Brown color, but light can shine through easily. Good, lasting head that leaves some chunky ring lace on the glass.

First impression of the smell is of olive oil. The darker malts are quite light particularly for this style. No real burnt aromas. Rather blase.

Very thin for the style. Another negative is the presence of a metallic flavor (iron?). This is a mild stout, probably a good starter for people who fear the stout. This is a "small" oatmeal stout with a very short aftertaste. I would describe this more as a dark lager (even though stouts are ales)--it's thin and mildly chocolatey. (597 characters)

Pours nearly black with a short-lived tan head.
Smell is weak, nearly in hiding, with mostly malt and caramel with some slight roast notes.
Taste is toast, malt, caramel, faint hops. Balance is decent but nothing to writehome about. None of the sweetness you expect for an oatmeal stout.
Body is sub-medium, effervescence is overdone. Drying with an ashy aftertaste. Some bitter chocolate there as well. There really isn't anything to recommend this brew. Nothing bad, certainly not a drain pour, but I'll never have it again, either. (536 characters)

Enjoyed on tap at The Armsby Abbey's Stoutfest 2013. Reviewed from notes. Poured into a tulip.

A - Pours a dark black hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light lacing and a thin white blanket.

S - Burnt malts, water (yes water), thin roast aromas, and....yep. As backed up by 8 other people who tried this in our section (I forced them to), this smells like wet dog.

T - Taste is on par with the nose as far as awfulness goes. Thin, thin oats, super faint chocolate, light roasted malts, and more of that "wonderful" wet dog only this time on the taste. Ugh.

M - Mouthfeel is thin and watery. Atleast its straight forward.

O - Overall, yeah. Wet Dog. Need I say more? It was an absolute pleasure though seeing peoples reaction as they tried this and the Swiss Mint Stout I also got. Well worth the money to watch people recoil in horror and gag. (861 characters)

Poured from a half-liter (16.9oz.) bottle into a standard pint glass.
Dark brown/black in color, with ruby highlights and a rather short head of bone-white foam.
Aroma-Dark malt, faint chocolate
Taste-Some up-front mineral sharpness, then subtle chocolate, dark toasted malt, interesting noble hop bite, leading to a dry, toasty finish. A bit thin-bodied, but interesting and flavorfull. A nice sessionable brew. (412 characters)

Half-pint, hand-pulled at the Firs Club, Codsall on 17 Nov 2012.

Very dark body: almost black in colour, with a good, deep biege/tan head of foam.

The nose and taste were simular, dark chocolate and ground coffee being the main flavours I found. medium bodied for the style, neither rich or watery, just about right. The beer finishes with a mild bitterness that sets the mouth off towards a hop dryness and you wanting another gulp of the brew. (451 characters)
