Appearance This one was light yellow in color and hazy with a modest head.
Smell The straight American wheat dominated this nose. Its not yeasty at all and is more like grain than wheat.
Taste This Wheat Ale is zesty like a lemon spritzer and has a light grainy backbone.
Mouthfeel This is light-bodied and kind of fizzy in the mouth.
Drinkability This just isnt my style and, having said that, I thought this effort was average at best.

Wilshire Wheat Ale was served at the Alameda brewpub. In the glass, the beer was a hazy weak/pale golden color, and was topped by thin white head. The nose possessed a very soft, almost powdery floralness, and a subtle citric maltiness. On the palate, the beer exhibited a soft but bright citric maltiness with nice twinges of tartness throughout. The finish had a good citric tartness, a subtle floral quality, and an enjoyable level of bitterness. The mouthfell was kind of silky, but it felt too thin. Overall a decent American wheat.

The first thing I noticed about Wilshire Wheat - after getting past the aroma-stealing lemon wedge - was the serving temperature. It's been quite some time since I've been served a pint of ale at proper cellar temperature, and I found both the beer and the experience refreshing. The relatively warm temperature enhanced the beer's fluffier contours, making it soothing and comfortable in a manner well suited to a summer's evening.
This is an American wheat beer. It's hazed, but not in the sense of a hefeweizen. It presents as light golden with stray lace and no head.
There's no great excitement here. But light graininess, ideal bittering, and a clean finish add up to a casual grace.
