Picked up a bottle at Belmont Station to share with my sweetie on Valentine's night. Pours a pretty dark orange color with a nice, light carbonation that continues to rise from the bottom of the glass. A brief flourish of creamy white head that quickly dials back to a thin ring around the glass. Aroma of orange peel, light spices (coriander), and acidic citrusy hops, with an underlying sweetness from the blood orange juice.
Palate is light and subtle up front, with the citrusy hops jumping out front. A mild sweetness from the pale malt and orange, and some interesting spices (coriander, orange peel), and a touch of tanginess from the saison yeast. The blood orange emerges for a brief moment before the swallow. The hops come back with some nice bitterness on the finish that lingers for a wile after the swallow.
Body is nice and light with good carbonation, although not effervescent. Nicely drinkable, pairs well with dark chocolate. A good, interesting take on a saison with the intriguing twist of blood orange, and definitely a change of pace for Alameda.

The wife and I shared this bottle on Valentine's day 2.14.11.

22oz bottle dipped in red wax poured into two pint glasses.

A - Dark brown in color with a cream had that fades almost instantly.

S - Smells of fermented fruit, spices, sugars.

T - Raisins and sweet oranges.

D - Sticky in the mouth, very low carbonation.

Bottled 20DEC12

Rusty, ruddy brown with a fleeting light foam. Rim and central cap leftover. Smells of standard saison yeast (commercial and conventional) - clay, coriander, some hay and a little sweetness. Taste is cheep and theres basically no orange character here through the strength of the yeast. Medium on heavy body with moderate carb and dry, slightly astringent finish. Not impressive.

Pours a murky tan color, honestly unappealing in appearance. One finger of off-white head that settles to a thick film. Smell is of blood oranges, cream. The taste is of sweet orange, pine and citric hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is average, carbonation is very passive. Overall, this is interesting, not one I'll return to though.

Glass: Port City Belgian style Snifter.

Appearance: Perfectly clear, and ... brown. Just, brown. Off-white head, no lacing.

Aroma: Blood Orange definitely comes through, as well as some funky Wit type yeast, and slight ripe banana. I am liking this.

Taste: Funky Saison taste in the forefront, transitioning to very slight blood orange, and then quickly to banana / yeast sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with medium carbonation.

Overall: A delicious take on a saison. This is truly well done with the subtlety of the Blood Orange combined with a tasty saison funk. Nice!

A: Purchased this at a local bottle shop in Vancouver. Looks interesting...red wax topped bottle. That proved to be somewhat annyoing as there was a ton of wax and took a lot of work to get the bottle open. Pours a hazy copper color, not much head or lace down the glass
S: Smells of Belgian yeast, pepper/spicy scent and orange.
T: Taste is slightly sweet with orange flavor and spice (corriander maybe).
M: Light thin bodied beer, carbonation seems on the low side
O: This beer was just ok in my book not bad but not that good either. I was somewhat underwealmed by this one, was expecting more i guess.

Bomber poured into my large Gulden Draak tulip, My Bloody Valentine is ruddy chestnut brown with a large, foamy off-white head that leaves big chunks of foamy lace.
Bought this a while ago (spring?), not sure how long ago, but I've kept it in my kegerator to try to keep the fruit from fading until I got around to it.

Smell is very nice dusty, pithy, fruity saison esters. Really liking the nose here, not too robust, but classic and alluring. Faint orange, as well as light, earthy hops.

Taste is similar, but much less of everything. This is a fairly faint, mild saison. Which is perfectly fine, but underwhelming, especially considering the flashy packaging. I suspect the orange has faded, as there really just faint orange peel bitterness and mild, fruity esters. No flaws, just underwhelming. This could be my fault, for aging it to long. But in fairness, even though I don't generally age fruit beers, or saisons, the wax seal implies potential to cellar well...

Mouthfeel is foamy, dry, and medium-light bodied.

Drinkability is fine, these is a light beer that goes down really easy. That said, there's not much too it, so I wouldn't go out of my way to find it again, unless I knew it was a fresh bottle, to see if it had more Blood Orange character.

Had this beer on valentines day with my fiance. Cracked it open and it poured a darker copper color or a deep orange. The first smell I got from this beer was the yeast. On my first sip I got a crisp taste of hops and a slight taste of tang from the blood orange. After a few more drinks I mostly could taste the yeast, but it is a pleasant taste not an astringent one. Great drinkability and a saison I would have again.
