Pours ink black with absolutely no trace of a head or any lacing what-so-ever. Really nice oily legs drip all along the glass after each sip. It sits completely still in the glass. No carbonation at all.
Vanilla extract, deep dark chocolate, hints of coffee, dried fruit, alcohol and beach ball plastic? Even as it warms up, it doesn't get any more complex. I'm a little dissapointed to be honest.
Lots of beach ball plastic, dried fruit, vanilla and bits of really dark cocoa and bitter coffee. The alcohol is present but not overwhelming. No depth, and nothing very interesting at all going on here. That phenolic plastic that is in the nose and the taste is really ruining what coould be a decent beer. It reminds me of an old Bakelite pickguard in the nose. That may not make alot of sense to anyone that hasn't held an old guitar pick or pickguard, but that's what I'm picking up along with the vanilla and chocolate. Weird...
Absolutely no carbonation! On the verge of medium thick, but just a touch thinner. Something that sits this still is usually decently oily, but not this one. Wow... dissapointed again.
I so badly wanted to love this brew just for the NY pride. It's a shame. I kinda understand where they were going with this, but they just missed the mark badly.

A: Poured from the 750 ml bottle into a Piraat tulip/snifter-type glass. Body appears relatively thick and black, though with some mahogany hues on the pour. In the glass it's black with an oddly-thin-bubbled film of a head on top. First thought was, "maybe I should've poured this more aggressively."

S: Malt, molasses and dark fruits. Hint of dark chocolate. Decent Imperial/Double Stout nose.

T: First impression: now I know why there was no head - because there is basically no carbonation whatsoever, so nothing to rise up and create such a head. . . .

Anyway, as for flavors: sweet stuff is there - modest chocolate malt, molasses and a generic fruitiness. Finishes with a modest tannic bitterness and a dark chocolate-type bitterness. Heat from the 11.2% ABV is noted, though mainly as lingering heat in the aftertaste and warmth in the belly rather than as a "hot" sensation during the sip.

M: Heavy in heft, slick in feel due to a complete lack of carbonation.

O: OK, so I've reviewed over 1100 beers - full reviews - here on BA, and in my 8 years of reviews, I don't think I've ever reviewed a beer that was so bereft of carbonation. It's unfortunate, because I think this beer has potential with the flavor profile; some active carbonation would wake up the palate and improve the experience.
