Just to avoid confusion, this place is also the home of Amplified Ale Works. The tanks and brewing system are right up front. They just started brewing in November 2012 though Calif Kebab opened earlier this year. But it's right there at the end of Pacific Beach Dr. on the second floor above Tony Roma's.

So far from Amplified I've just had the Pig Nose Pale Ale and Rare Form Quadrupel, but they seem to be into experimentation so it will be interesting to see what shows up on tap.

The dozen or more guest taps include the spectrum of San Diego County beers like Stone, Green Flash, Societe, and Monkey Paw, plus some from "up north" like Craftsman, Eagle Rock, and Telegraph. Plus a few more national beers on the order of Firestone Walker Wookey Jack, and a couple of Belgians.

I have enjoyed the food, which features regular kebabs and salmon, steak, chicken, and veggie skewers. The plates include a variety of sides, like rice, hummus, salad, and felafel, all rather spicy, but a welcome change from the usual fried bar food. But of course they have piles of french fries that people seem to like, and fried zucchini.

This place has one of the few really nice decks in the beach areas, and the glass windbreak keeps it comfortable even on breezy evenings. Plus they don't bake you with the usual gas broilers and you can actually enjoy the cool, moist air blowing in right off the chilly Pacific. And no loud music outside, thanks guys!
