Took me a little while to write this, since I was last there a couple of weeks ago, but it's worth the trip. (I live just outside of Queens and work JUST in Suffolk, so it's a 10 mile trip north to go to Shoreline)

I've always enjoyed trying new/different beers - and sometimes, I'll head in there to give the guy a challenge. (Don't know his name, unfortunately.) He has yet to fail - I'll throw him a style and he'll show me a couple of examples of that style I may have overlooked. Best selection of imports on the island, never know what I'll find up there. Also, very impressive selection of domestics - found Avery Samael up there, and I don't know of anywhere else that has it.

For a lot of the beers I hear about nowadays (like Brooklyn/Schneider), the first thing I think is "I wonder if Shoreline would have that..."

Long story short - go. Even if they don't have what you want, guaranteed you'll find something else interesting.

(also, really small note on the review below mine - Stone's Vertical Epic for this year was released on 7/7/7, and the below post was on 7/5/7.) :-)

Shoreline Beverage has the best large bottle selection that I have seen so far on Long Island. I frequent most distributors in the Huntington and Smithtown area, and this has the best selection of micro-brews around. The prices are average compared to the other stores in the area, but the selection is tremendous and dare I say worth the premium to keep this place stocked with the massive variety. The Growler Station is also a very cool aspect of this place as most other places don't have 5 brews on tap for sale and carry out. Great niche place for any beer lover in the area.

Fantastic store. They get the best beers, period. Hair of the Dog, Nogne, Cantillon, 3 Fonteinen, Rochefort top the list of brews I was shocked to find on little ol' Long Island. They might not have the biggest breadth of selection at any given time compare to other stores with the brews I listed, but when you have so many top beers, who needs random, mediocre beers cluttering the shelves? Store is also kept at a nice, cool temperature for the beers, a nice touch. I don't generally get involved with the service in stores, but they seemed knowledgeable enough to me. Prices might be 50 cents higher than stores elsewhere, but, ya know. Top of the line shoppe.

A friend of mine who lives in the Huntington area brought me to shoreline. They have an awesome selection of microbrews and imports. The staff is also very friendly. The growler station has 4 rotating beers. I will probably check out next time but not sure if I can get them home so may need to bring a cooler. Bought a bunch of beers that I will be reviewing shortly... Worth the trip great selection and pricing... BTW pricing was reasonable but some are on the expensive side but haven't seen them anywhere else...

If you are looking for Belgiun beers in NY, I doubt there is anywhere that has a better selection than Shoreline. They also have a nice selection of micros. Everything is laid out according to country. Prices are clearly marked on the shelf and the place is clean. Mike or Stuart are very knowledgeable, so ask if you don't see something.

Five or six rotating handles that usually have DFH, Blue Point or something worth drinking, so bring a growler or buy one there.

The place is also great for soda and they have a nice selection of glassware behind the counter.

I've never had a bad beer out of here and I consider myself lucky to have found this place.

This place has the best selection of beer on Long Island, hands down. I make the drive to Huntington, which is about a half hour drive for me each way, specifically to go here (which is saying something, with gas prices the way they are). I especially appreciate the fact that I can often find things I didn't even know were available in NY, because I always like to try something new, from as many breweries possible. Check out their website for the list, but call to see if it's actually in stock.

Last weekend I went and picked up the following noteworthies: St. Somewhere's Lectio Divina Amber Ale, Sierra Nevada's Southern Hemisphere Harvest Fresh Hop Ale, Fort Collin's Major Tom Pomegranate Wheat and Double Chocolate Stout, and Domaine DuPage's French Style Country Ale.
(Just to give an example, and these were all just recently in).

I subscribe to their email list so I can find out what new in the store, with some help from Stu, who works there, who's very knowledgable, and has given me good suggestions. I highly recommend joining their list if you're in the area, so when something comes in you can be the first to know (unfortunately, I have found if you don't go pretty soon after you get the email, it's already sold out, which is pretty frustrating).

On another sour note, I also like to know what's new here because with so much selection, there's bound to be stragglers and as we all know, not all beer is dated, but beer does not have the longest shelf life. I have bought some expired beer here, which of course I only realized after I went to drink it (but I've found this problem pretty much everywhere I go, but that's another story altogether). I've learner to forgive them because of the rarer finds I can get here. So when in doubt, I stick to the high ABV beers...

Also notable is there growler filling station, where you can get a fresh filled growler from a selection of 5 always changing beers. I like that they list on the website what's on tap so I can decide what I want before I get there.

Boasts the largest beer selection in New York State (I think HalfTime still has 'em beat to be honest with you). Still, absolutely fantastic. Doesn't look like much from the outside. Doesn't look like much on the inside either upon entry but when you hook the corner, you can see what's goin' on here. An aisle of American micros and crafts, and an aisle of imports, far and wide.
Americans first: Long Island local breweries represented here. Bluepoint and Southampton. Yep, Southampton. Southampton in big bottles and the Old Herb in 12 ounce bottles. Scapped me a Belgian Double White. The full lines of locals (Southampton, Blue Point, Brooklyn), regionals (Dogfish Head, Weyerbacher, Victory, Heavyweight, Davidson Brothers, Atlantic Brewing Co.), and not so regional (Grant's, Hair of the Dog, Stone, 3 Floyds, North Coast, Rogue, Smuttynose) and on and on. I haven't seen the New York Harbor beers in I don't know how long.
Meanwhile, in an import aisle not far away,... a huge selection of Belgians, English, German, Klingon, and all sorts of stuff that I can't pronounce. Hmmmn, a Chouffe gift box. Very nice.
Service was good. They're doing promos of sorts (Dogfish Head is due out there on Thursday night) and they've now got the growler thing going on, at least 5 taps. I saw the Southampton Belgian Amber on when I was there last week and the Double White should be on by now. I always get a new Ale Street News handed to me too. Good damn beer store!!!

This place is awesome. When I saw it from the outside, I was skeptical. When I first stepped in the door and saw 12 packs and 30 racks of BMC, I was still skeptical. When I went down the second and third aisles, my skepticism was squashed. The second aisle is all foreign beer and the third is all US microbrews. The selection is amazing and the service is even better. The guy there helped me find all the beers I was looking for and took 10% off my price and threw in a nice goblet for free. This place rocks.
