Yellow-tan and just a touch of haze, white head is about a half finger and lasted a bit, leaving a sheen of white and sparse lacing.

Aroma is a bit different from what I expected, kinda like a blonde mixed with a saison, mixed with just a splash of tripel. There's just a touch of fruitiness too.

Taste wise, I think they really kind of nailed with the name. It's very blonde ale-ish, even though the alcohol is so high that few would consider it to be an actual blonde ale. But it does somewhat have the blonde ale taste. It's not real heavy on the flavor, just like a blonde, but does have a fair bit of lemony citrus, graininess, and some of the yeasty character of tripels and Belgian pales. There's enough slightly spicy hops to make it a well balanced beer.

Drink is amazing, medium bodied, but with a well hidden alcohol that packs quite a punch.

It's very different and innovative. I'm going to pick up another bomber of this one again.

After trying all four of the Texas Big Beers available so far, I like the ESB best, but it's close with the Porter. The blonde and the Scotch ale are also pretty darn tasty. I love the innovation of this brewery, and love that it's pretty local. Great job!

Big thanks to crusian for some Texas love for sure. Live review.

Pours an almost clear light gold, topped by thin layer of foam for a bit, ending as a bare cap and islands. A swirl leaves oily film and bubbles on the glass. Woahh this baby big.

A saison sweet and fruity tart with lemon and a hint of pepper. Alcohol sweet and spice in there too, but an undernote.

Clean and bright flavors of yeast and lemon zest, ripe fruits, quite full flavored and delicious, This is a new flavor profile for me, the yeast is a lot of the character here, and the spicy hops, but it is not a saison, not a.tripel, not a ..? American blonde, right. At times this gets a bit of a bite from the ABV but let me tell you the alc. in this is clean and well hidden. Dangerous waters here. Lotsa biscuity bread and neutral grainy sweet here too, all comibining to let the substantial bitter catch up at end, As delicious example of style I've tried.

To style? Gee, that's a good one. Highly viscous, lightly carbed, long, juicy/spicy finish that gets a bit of a mediciny thing going occasionally, but all in all what more could you ask?

Texas Big Beer is on the right track with this treat. .

Big Texas Blonde pours to an orange/tan colored hue with a body that is cloudy. An aggressive pour- even one aimed directly at the center of a glass- produces little foam, but it does subside into a thin layer of small bubbles as you consume. The aroma of this beer is one of bread, fruit, and candy and it definitely piques your interest.

Moving to the taste, this beer is complex and very interesting. The flavors present include dough, bread, some fruit, honey, caramel, and more. Further investigation reveals flavors of light butter, peach/apricot, some earthy hops, and more candy. The taste is stronger and fuller- bodied than the average beer and the complex taste is certainly something that will keep this beer in your memory.

Big Texas Blonde is certainly a beer that will stand out in your memory. From its appearance to its complex flavor, it is a beer formulated to be intriguing. The alcohol level is well above average but the taste doesn’t necessary convey this information. It has a flavor that is candy- like and complex, but there is no alcohol bite or alcohol burn, like is so common with other high alcohol beer. You get the feeling that the alcohol is higher than average and your intuition is proven correct by the statistics, but nowhere is this evident in the overall flavor profile, which is actually rather subdued from an alcohol standpoint.

Overall, this is an interesting ale that will intrigue most who sample. It is difficult to find right now and the price is higher than average, but it is definitely a beer worth seeking out.
