FILLED ON 06/01/21 on bottom of can.
A: Medium amber, slightly hazy, with 1-2 finger off-white frothy head with good retention and copious bands of lacing.
S: Major pine resin with grapefruit, burnt caramel, and spicy, herbal hop character with several layers of pale malt heft. Tropical flavors are nowhere to be found as reported on the label.
T: Flavor is old school IIPA with some pale and light caramel malt character up front which gives way to a very dank, resiney, grapefruit citrus flavor. Very candy-like and a bit sweet. Esters are low, maybe some floral notes.
M: Drinkable with medium body and carbonation with dry finish.
O: Pretty impressive IIPA in the mold of 2009 with high malt character and high bitterness. Don't read the label - tropical fruit notes are not there but instead an incredibly drinkable old school WCIIPA awaits.

Ordered a pint at the Downtown Bistro in Lancaster, OH. Returned after tasting. Buttery diacetyl tasting.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a two finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and piney hops with a little dankness, orange, grapefruit and spicy tropical fruit. Flavor is caramel malt, citrus, piney and dank hops, mixed tropical fruit, grapefruit and lemon rind, a bit earthy; finishes with caramel and lingering piney and citrus hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess and good carbonation. Nice Midwestern imperial IPA with a hop bill that leans towards pine and citrus, but with a little noble hop character as well. Some muddled tropical fruit with the citrus, but with a light, spicy earthiness. Another classically malty and alpha hoppy IPA that gives me hope for the future. No clear individual fruit flavors, but a nice balance between robust malt and hops. Nice introduction to this Ohio brewery. ABV well covered (this can shows 9.2%) and the malt is sturdy enough to handle it.
