In the heart of Nantucket Village lies this jem. I always make a point to head here for some Cisco on tap. The wife likes the main restuarant, with its great food and splendid service, but I always want to go to the Tap Room, a dark cellar bar with great pub food with the ambience to match. Formal or Informal, this is a must stop on the Island. Not too expensive by Island standards.

Have visited the Tap Room at Jared Coffin House quite a few times and whenever visiting the island. Located downstairs from the main lobby of one of Nantucket's most noted symbols, this casual restaurant/tavern is oozing in atmosphere. Dimly lit, cozy, with a great deal of ambiance to boot. There are plenty of whaling/seafaring decorations to remind you of the nautical roots of the island. Tables are small and located almost on top of each other. Yes it's a bit crowded, but as I said cozy. The bar seats about 8-10 people. Selection is decent for a place of its size. Cisco Whale's Tale is a must. Also a decent run of regional crafts--Magic Hat, Harpoon and always Sam varieties on hand. Service is friendly and the food is excellent. My favorite is their cup of clam chowder and salmon burger. For Nantucket standards the prices are quite reasonable, and if you're staying at the Coffin House or any of a few other local inns you can usually get some sort of voucher for a free meal here as part of a package. To my mind, the Tap Room is a must visit for any BA who decides to take the ferry ride across the Sound.

Ate here while visiting Nantucket for the day. We sat in the Tap room, a dark wood covered room with fairly tight seating. Beer selection was what I expected - Sam Adams, Harpoon, and of course Cisco on tap. I had a Cisco Whale Tail which went well with the tasty Salmon burger I had, and the wife had a burger which she said was very good. Service was top notch, my empty glass had barely hit the table when the waitress showed up to ask if I wanted a refill.
