From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on June 6, 2014.

Something must have changed since the Bros reviewed this one in 1999 and gave it a "Very Good" rating.

I get a cloudy orange pour with a fizzy head that dissolves fast.

Aroma is buttery but beyond that I pull in some yeast, pale malts, and a mild hop note. Smells more like a mash rather than a final product.

The body is light to medium so that's OK.

The taste is bland concoction of pale malts with a fairly forward hop note but it still tastes a bit off.

The beer poured a nice white and foamy head thT was surprisingly vigorous. The beer itself was a golden and clear color that looked fairly nice. The smell had a sort of orange and citrus note that had a nice and malty/bready smell to it. The beer tasted similar to how it smelled. The taste had orange rind notes and the malts had a strong presence that were similar to caramel. The mouthfeel is a little bit thick for an APA and waS .edium bodied. The overall feel was a little off because of how thick and velvety it felt. Overall, a decent beer.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Golden in color, brilliantly clear. Rocky white head retains extremely well and leaves behind tons of sticky, foamy lacing.

S: Grainy malt base with light hints of toast. Hops are predominantly floral with subtleties of soft pine and citrus rind. Other vague fruity scents come out from time to time too.

T: Cereal grains, toast. A touch steely. Modestly bitter hop punch. Floral and oily hop flavor, grapefruit rind, hints of pine. Finishes with a drying graininess and a pronounced lemon pith bitterness.

M: Medium bodied. Full and very creamy in the mouth. Blast of abrasive carbonation scrubs the palate clean. Some light hop astringency.

O: A very solid American Pale. A great partner for a classic hamburger meal.
