On tap at BBW Fenway on Sunday 2/21/10. Asked the bartender if she knew if this was a brewer collaboration, but instead she informed me it was a recipe collaboration. Extremely dark brown color, bordering on black. Thin white head, and some good lacing. Nice looking beer. Smell was like coffee and black licorice. Really liked the flavor of this beer, the best one of the afternoon. Dark malty flavor, with hints of chocolate and coffee bean. Smooth body but with enough body to notice. Very easy to drink even though I was told it was higher in abv then customers think. Could have had a few of these that day. This beer is the best beer they have on tap right now.

This is a blend of a schwartz beer and their Dear Abbey brew. It pours a pitch black color with a thick frothy tan head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is outstanding. It has a solid black and chocolate malt scent along with a nice fruity abbey ale aroma. The taste is great as well. It's damn smooth with some excellent Belgian yeast character. The black malts and the Belgian esters work well together. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a very good beer. I like the blend idea. I hope they produce more beers along these lines.
