750 ML bottle
Served in a snifter

It is a ruddy brown color, but when held to the light mahogany comes through. It was topped with a mountain of tan head leaving little lacing.

I smell some faint spices and dates, figs, raisins. The is a wood smell as well.

The spices are more prevalent in the taste. It starts out spicy with some sweet prune and date flavors. The finish is earthy.

Full mouthfeel

It makes for a good Sunday sipper. A big beer to cure a hangover, yet easy enough to drink.

Did care for this. I got a lot of stout like characteristics from it. chocolately, not dark fruit.

Smell: I get raisins, fig, roasted malt, and dark fruits.

Taste: Just as it smelled.. Raisins, Roasted Malt, dark fruits.. But not that oaky flavor.

Mouthfeel: Mouthfeel is okay, kind of light and very thing

Appearance: The appearance is probably the best part of this beer. Pours brown but finishes black with a nice 2 finger head.

Overall: For being Perrin's first bottle release, I was expecting more to this beer. For this being classified as a "Oak Aged Belgian Ale" None of the oaky notes come through in this beer leaving me wondering why I paid $14 a bottle for this brew.. This beer lacked a lot for me for being a Perrin beer, especially on the first bottle release. I am glad they started bottling beer, but this wasn't a successful brew. For it just being a "Belgian Ale" I think it's great for a Belgian Ale. However, no oak like the description says. Just found this beer to be disappointing..
