A carefully crafted intercontinental blend of hops helps us take traditional IPAs to the next level with Urban IPA. If you're bored with soulless IPAs drunk by farmers in wellies, it's time to go URBAN.

Pours a hazy copper colour. Smells mostly of sweet, red malts and floral hops. Taste pretty mild, soft mouthfeel, balanced, malt body, dry floral hops, with a bitter hop finish.

Appearance - Deep amber honey colouration with a think white soapy foam head that has decent retention but nothing more than expected.
Smell - The aroma to my noes is pretty tropical. I get plenty of the orange and lemon element as well as pine.
Taste - Pretty much a follow on from the nose there is a lot of the tropical fruit in here. Orange and Lemon are definitely the main players but the piney element is in here too and comes through with a nice assertive punch just at the end. The final flourish here is very bitter and certainly welcome after the sweeter elements in the fruit at the front.
Mouthfeel - This one has medium body but it does have a very good linger at the end. It is rather drying and more of a sipping beer than one to pack away.
Overall - This is a decent enough number. It has good flavour and will please most IPA/hop heads! It will also tend to blow out your taste buds so if this is on a tasting evening leave it to the end!

330ml bottle poured into a Troubadour tulip glass
Look: Dark gold, almost coppery pour. Couple of fingers of white head which leaves some lacing behind.
Smell. Very, very fruity right out of the gate - orange and lemon dominate, with hops and pine resin buried deep in the background until the beer has warmed up a bit and they start to come further forward. Make no mistake, it smells absolutely fantastic.
Taste: Tastes as good as it smells - first you get a wash of juicy citrus flavours followed by the lovely, resinous taste of the hops in the finish. Not much in the way of malt/yeast flavours that I could make out, but the transition from citrus to hops is absolutely fantastic.
Feel: Like a lot of IPAs, some might find it quite 'dry' - the initial fruitiness makes it feel quite full but that soon gives way to a long, dry and astringent finish. A decent level of carbonation but really this is far too good to just chug down.
Overall: I feel that I'm getting the hang of IPAs now, and this is one of the best I've had to date - there's a nice balance between fruit and hop flavours. Some might find the hoppiness a bit aggressive, certainly moreso than more 'traditional' British IPAs, but it's definitely worth a punt even in the crowded arena of American and 'American-style' IPAs.
