Dirty Stop Out is our smoked oat stout that has all the characteristics of a heavy night out - Complex, dark, with hints of smokiness and perfume aromas. A blend of 9 malts matched up with a firmly hopped back bone make this a very self assured stout.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Black colour, moderate beige head. The aroma has notes of roast malts and some fruity and floral hops, only a hint of smoke. Medium dry flavour, moderately roasted malts and a slight fruitiness make the beer very drinkable. The smokey notes are there, but are well balanced with the other flavour elements. Moderate hops in the finish.

Pitch black color with a thick thin dark beige head with short retention.
Aroma with notes of dark chocolate, powder milk, oat (although the label does not mention it) and some nuts.
Flavor with notes of roasted coffee beans, cocoa, followed by a restrained smoked note, caramel, earth, oat, dark bread and wood. Dry aftertaste with a lingering roasted note.
Medium body with mild carbonation.
Well executed Stout with great malt complexity and further potential. Originality is there but somewhat hidden. I would suggest to increase a bit either the smoky character or the East European hops (ps.50 IBUs should be enough, but I am not feeling them as much) to further move away from the crowd.

At Bierkraft. Lunch witty Pedro, Miguel, David, Alberto & Miguel Angel Muñoz. In pint glass. With carrillera. Smooth with a soft smokyness and roastyness. Not bad, drinks very easily but is a bit boring, lack character

330ml bottle from Whole Foods, Giffnock (£2.39):
Surprisingly good stuff from Tiny Rebel here, this one was a lot smoother & definitely more balanced than I'd anticipated when pouring the beer; I was fearful of the mention of it being 'smoked' on the label but it certainly wasn't overdone. There was a few nice toasted malts opening things with touches of sugar & sweetness too, some toffee even featured before the smoky flavours started to show but they were subdued enough to make it an enjoyable beer throughout; great stuff & one that I'd have again.

L: Jet black color, one finger brown head, great lacing, no visible carbonation.
S: Oats, coffee, caramel. Superb.
T: Coffee, oats. Definitely smells much better than it tastes.
F: Light bodied, drinkable.
O: If only it tasted like it smelled, this would have been a standout.

Pours a dark brown colour with a beige head. Aromas of smoked malt, nuts & caramel. Tastes is very much on the smoked side with again malt, nuts & caramel present along with bacon & some slight bitterness in the aftertaste. Overall I really liked this and will look out for there other offerings.

On cask, poured into a half pint glass. The aroma hints mildly at coffee with oats coming through strong in a secondary wave. There's also a smoky character to the nose with some chocolate and cream. It pours a deep, near opaque brown topped by a dense tan head that has good retention and excellent lace. The taste is a medium sweet up front with a medium bitter strengthening by the end. The creamy but light texture has a bit of a prickly carbonation. The medium body is smoky and roasted with chocolate and oatmeal flavors and a finish of bitter chocolate withroasted oats. The aftertaste is that of bread crust and dark chocolate with a sticky texture and a light cloying quality.
