750 ml bottle, number 353 out of 1200. Pours hazy reddish tan with a monstrous meringue like off-white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet cereal malts, tropical fruit and green resiny hops.

The flavor is creamy sweet malts, tropical fruits and a nice piney, resiny hop finish with decent bitterness. The mouthfeel medium bodied and slightly watery.

Overall, a nice IPA, good balance of sweet tropical fruits and hops. Maybe a little funk from barrels.

maybe the best paradox beer to date, this is really well done. hoppy as heck, with a couple of underutilized varietals and a nice dense malty base that is sturdy enough while still allowing the drinker to get the full hop experience. dark copper in color with a lot of clarity and a thick white head. citrus and oily hop aroma, I'm not super familiar with el dorado hops, but the galaxy is there all the way through, high alpha and stunningly citric. the flavor too, is a little grain heavy on the front end, semisweet and woody, with the hops getting grapefruit and tangerine flavors later on. i can't get enough galaxy, i like that there is nothing subtle about their use here, bright and pungent and up front. a little more body and alcohol than i probably need in a beer like this, but i really enjoy the flavor profile. paradox should do a bit more of these india pale ales, i think sometimes their own ambition gets the best of them, you know, good ideas that are perhaps beyond the capability of the brewers, but this is a step back in complexity and a huge leap forward in terms of overall product quality. id like to see more like this from them.
