Had the Yin last night, so I rushed through my yard chores and skipped lunch so I could get to the Yang just a little bit sooner.

Golden/pilsner-ish yellow and cloudy with plenty of carbonation

In the aroma I picked up coriander, citrus/floral, a little pepper, and freshcut hay.

I love the way this beer drinks. Unlike the Yin, the first sip of the Yang is not a surprise... it tastes like it smells. Starts out crisp, slightly tart, tropical/citrus fruit fades in and out, corriander, a little oak, and finishes soft and dry. Really good balance for a beer that has so much going on... in my opinion. The corriander and fruit flavors hang around and taunt me... they taunt me like my wife in her "police uniform"... daring me to have another go.

Mouthfeel is good - body and carbonation are what I'd expect from something labeled as a Belgian Strong Pale.

I can totally see myself grabbing a couple more bottles of this because it's freaking good.

not bad as paradox goes, but this has a couple of major shortcomings. the first is the mouthfeel. i need brett beers and funky stuff to be well carbonated, if not effervescent. its necessary to let the beers be dry, to let them sing. a flat brett beer is unflattering, and this is certainly that. blonde to orange in color with some yeast floaties. a nose of herbs and rose hips, that part translates well. i like the brett character as well, and there is some hops too. i don't get much orange peel in the taste, but the rose hips give it a summery vibe. with some bubbles, this would be up there with the best paradox sours, but being flat it feels weighty, and the bitterness in the finish is way too long lasting as a result. the flavors are well assembled, but the feel is what bogs this one down for me. it may have faded or died a bit over time, but more bubbles would make this rock.

750 ml swing top bottle, number 151 / 1200. After gushing a bit when opened, it pours hazy golden orange with a smallish white head that goes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is funky yeast with some fruity brett.

The flavor is interesting, fruity brett with some funk and wit spices and vinous notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied but very watery.

Overall, a nice brett wit. I think I liked Anchorage's version better.

Bottle 416 of 1200

Cloudy, golden yellow body with lots of carbonation and a thick white head. Pepper and coriander spices abound in the aroma. Bold, spicy flavor blended with fruity, almost citrus-like flavors (e.g., lemon); tobacco, alcohol warmth and hop bitterness make a big presence, too. Light and bubbly feel in the mouth, dry.

The Yang comes across with powerful flavors, nicely blended, and pretty decently balanced, all wrapped up in a relatively light body. Well worth checking out.

Call me crazy, but I Tao-ed it up tonight. Had the Yin and now the Yang. Not a bad night, I might add.

This pours a golden gem, slight haze (a bit cold) with soapy head. Lacing is slick with some stick here and there.

The wood is more pronounced on this beer than the Yin. Oaky and tart-y. Some florals and subtle spice. Light toast underneath.

The oak subsides a bit on the palate. This helps bring out the rose and orange, with some spice on the end. Semi sweet, but dries out toward the end. While the Yin seemed to have some red grape pressence, this one resembles more of a chardonnay..but I'm a beer dude, so who cares. I like it.
