Pous a nice medium amber color with white head. Grapefruit pretty much dominates the nose, just a hint of pine; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a small hop bite.

Last year I just LOVED this release - something went wrong this go round - maybe just a bad batch?

This tastes just like ruby red grapefruit juice. So good! Light and drinkable. Can't wait to get more for summer so refreshing! Their fruit beer is so real not artificial!

Only a hint of grapefruit, not very hoppy for an IPA. On the plus side, not very filling.

This beer is a thick orange color, shining bright despite its heavy look. A foamy not-quite-white head diminishes to a thin layer somewhat quickly, and it leaves a thin ring where it settles followed by spotty lacing.
The grapefruit really integrates into this beer's profile well. It stands out as key while letting the bitterness take over. The bitterness itself never gets too hard but is on the level for a solid IPA. It's bright and citrusy with that particular grapefruit pith and just enough bite, leading into a gently lingering finish.
It's lightly but consistently smooth all the way through with a smoothness that really moves nicely on the palate. Its feel is firm but soft, and it's got a nice depth to it.

Nice beer, good grapefruit smell, nice head. As it warms up it has a little more personality. Unfortunately it doesn't have much IPA character, but It is a beer that would be good to drink when it is hot out and you want something refreshing with a little personality

Cloudy peach in color, moderate, frothy head of white foam.
Aroma-Definite grapefruit note
Taste-Ruby red grapefruit,pilsner malt, medium-to-light bodied. Snappy, tasty and refreshing. Would make a nice summer session brew.

Grapefruit upfront (and in the nose), faint IPA way in the back. Just not feeling this one as a regular in the rotation. Better than a radler?

I liked this - I wouldn't want to have more than one at a time, but I enjoyed it.

Pours a hazy light golden Amber with a white head.

Smells of grapefruit, malt/bread, and floral notes.

Bright citrus grapefruit up front with a slight malt bread middle finishes with a hop floral punch. This is a very solid IPA. If I had not had grapefruit Sculpin, I would think this stellar, but it takes a back seat to that glorious ale.

i see what this is trying to do, and i dont mind it. not to compete with a grapefruit sculpin or anything, but to bridge the gap. its a compromise beer. you know, fruit beer for the lady, ipa for me, it works well enough for both of us, although i dont see much ipa here aside from the letters on the label. it looks nice though, smells even better, and is one of the more refreshing takes on the fruited ipa. the grapefruit is authentic in it, and even better, not sweet at all. its ruby red all the way through, and the light acid it brings keeps the beer light and dry. the hops are really scaled way back below normal ipa levels, but i see this more as in introductory beer to those who may be afraid of ipa. its also one of those macro craft things, a radical improvement on the flavored beers of shocktop, more beer than juice like those shandys are, and pretty comfortable drinking this all year round. not my favorite by any stretch, but i think it fills a niche role, and caters to a lot of folks on the fringe of becoming craft enthusiasts, and for that reason i like it pretty well.

A: hazy; deep yellow in color; 1 finger off white head that receded to a thin collar; OK lacing;

S: fresh grapefruit;

T: sweet grapefruit up front; from mid-palate on, it's fresh grapefruit with a bit of grapefruit rind bitterness along side; light to moderate bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation;

O: Abita captured the aroma and flavor of fresh grapefruit; nicely done;

12 oz bottle.
Excellent fruity aroma. Suggests a taste that is sweeter than reality.
Lightly hazy amber body with a large white head.
Some sweetness up front, then moderatly tart and moderately bitter. Plenty of grapefruit and more vaguely citrus fruit. Gentle for style. Earthy component strengthens in the aftertaste.

Edit: the brewery mailed me a new six pack, and asked me to send the remaining beers back for them to look at in the lab. The new ones are nothing like the old ones, so I've changed the rating.

Bottle says best by 05/03/15

Look: Terrible, when I finished pouring, it looked like a snow globe because of all the sediment floating in it. The other bottles have a 1/4 inch of crap at the bottom, and I don't see anything about this being bottle conditioned. This must have been a bad batch. The lacing is spot on though.
Smell: So much grapefruit, and I love grapefruit. A little hop smell, but nothing else distinguishable.
Flavor: Not that exciting. I can taste the grapefruit, but the IPA flavor is distant.

A hint of pink grapefruit in the aroma but nothing in the taste. It tastes like a normal IPA minus the extra hops. I guess they didn't want this to taste like a fruit beer. Personally I would have liked the extra grapefruit taste.

nice golden color. Head is average and lacing ok. Aroma is of fresh grapefruit, I like it !!!. Taste is also nice, with fresh grapefruit with a back of semi-bitter hops. Nicely balanced, a simple beer, and I think it is very good.....

Poured forma bottle into a pint

A. A golden color quite hazy and a bit of sediment. Small white head the disappears quickly.

S. Slight aroma or grapefruit and pine. Oddly I get a little yeast smell like a belgian.

T. More grapefruit coming through here. But would still like a lil more. Not much hop character. Slight pine. Grassy aftertatste. Light.

M. Light body. Light carbonation. Finishes mostly clean.

O. Was hoping for more. Not a very exciting beer. Not terrible. Prob be good for seafood cooking. Or even drinking with a white fish. Nothing special though. Wouldn't go out of my way to buy. Wouldn't turn it down if offered to me.

Golden to amber in color with some haziness. You can see some minuscule sediment within the body. There's a fingernail of bright white around the rim and covering the majority of the top. Light Brussels lacing. Muted citrus hop aroma is rather acidic. The flavor is very strong with grapefruit and perhaps some copper like malt towards the back of the palate. The mouth is heavily carbonated and acidic.

I really expected so much more. While it was still good, it did not live up to the expectations I had. Not much grapefruit flavor, or a ton of hops for that matter. It was very drinkable, but I really wanted more grapefruit punch.

Probably would not seek out but would possibly purchase again.

I don't even like grapefruit that much, but the flavor works excellently in an IPA. Refreshing, and not too heavy.

BBD 4/19/15. Pours a clear light amber. Outstanding head volume and retention, World Class lacing.

Outstanding nose of sweet pink grapefruit, with notes of mango, over biscuit.

Medium bodied with a bit of oily texture. Slightly above normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish.

The flavor profile is very good, but a bit disappointing based on the outstanding aroma. It is reasonably intense, complex and wonderfully balanced. The grapefruit is presented in a laid back fashion and never dominates. It begins with sweet grapefruit coupled with a tropical hop flavor over a balancing biscuit sweetness. The middle is a subtle bitterness of rind and hops. The finish is a slow fade of the previous flavors culminating in a very slight pucker of grapefruit rind.

Appearance: orange in color with a 1" head that slowly falls to a thick surface covering.

Smell: caramel and grapefruit are what is picked up by the nose.

Taste: caramel, big grapefruit, some orange, pear, and a moderate bitterness are the main flavors.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Crisp from start to finish. Refreshing.

Overall: an IPA that is citrus focused and is nicely refreshing.
