Bourbon Street Stout is an Imperial Stout that is aged in small batch bourbon barrels. Our Imperial Stout is brewed with a combination of pale, caramel, chocolate and roasted malts. Oats are also added to give the beer a fuller and sweeter taste. The roasted malts give the beer its dark color as well as its intense flavor and aroma. After fermentation the beer is cold aged for 6 weeks. This is necessary for all of the flavors of the malt and hops to balance and produce a very smooth flavor.

After the cold aging the beer is transferred into the bourbon barrels. It is then aged for another 8 weeks to absorb all of the flavors from the barrels. The result is a stout that brings out the roasted flavors from the malt and the warming toasted, vanilla, and bourbon flavors.

From a bomber into a Perfect Pint glass, it’s nearly pitch brown, with a thick foamy brown head crowning it. Nose is syrupy sweet and bready with coffee and molasses notes with a hint of bourbon. Flavor is a bit different than advertised on the nose with an unexpected bitterness up front followed by semi-sweet malty-molasses. There’s kind of a watered-down bourbon flavor, and 10% ABV is well masked. Mouth is pleasantly creamy. Overall, a bit disappointing. The color, body, and nose are great, but the flavor seems a bit flat. With so many better options out there, I would not go out of my way to try again.

Didn't have great expectations for this beer, but at this price was definitely worth a try.

Nice look, classic decent head and color.
Good smell, definitely smell the bourbon, not overpowering, but there.

Taste is where things start to disappoint. There is an emptiness that comes through. Like something is missing. Good flavor overall, but that lack of depth leaves you wanting more feel.

Decent beer, worth a try, but that's about it.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark, mahogany brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was an inch and a half inch creamy, tan-colored, fairly long-lasting head. Excellent lacing.

S: A so-so aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, bourbon, and hops.

T: Tasted of a mild amount of hops (mostly in the finish), a good shot of bourbon (and its accompanying barrel), a lot of roasted malt (present throughout), light caramel notes, and a little chocolate. This flavor puts emphasis in the wrong places. It seems to give the bourbon more of a starring role than the chocolate or anything else. An OK flavor.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a smooth, warm finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A wildly uneven beer with some good qualities.

Bourbon Street pours a black color, with a very small head. Big sweet bourbon aroma, and lots of barrel. Great bourbon flavor, mixed in with a strong creamy roasted malt backbone. Lots of barrel. Good body and feel. Overall, this is a great barrel beer, exactly what you want.
