Thanks to my NOLA cousin ZBellino for this trade!

Poured from a 22 oz bomber into a pilsner glass. Pours a clear golden yellow with decent carbonation and a three finger head comprised of tons of little bubbles that slowly reduces.

Smells sweet and malty, with hints of leather, corn husks, creamed barleym, and lemon.

Taste is full, sweet and malty, almosty cloyingly so. Orange blossom, rose water, even Karo syrup are present in this sweet malted taste. Hints of alcohol, herby greens, and a mildly dry finish begin to meld better as you get further in to the beer.

Medium to full bodied, there's enough alcohol in here to start to numb the tongue and warm the belly. A dry, tacky aftertaste coats the tongue.

Abita's answer to the 40 ouncer? This has an almost malt-liquor taste to it, with tons of sweet malt and alcohol. Honestly, probably not Abita's best effort. I wouldn't rush out looknig for this one anytime soon.

A- Pours a pale yellow color with a white head.

S- Malty nose, that's about it, hahaha.

T- The taste was nothing complex, just your simple lager with a small orange peel hop finish, some caramel malts and a nutty finish taste. It’s just a plain beer but it’d be good on a hot summer day.

Food Pairing- Chips and Salsa

More transfer from my recent Abita session in the tasting notebook...

Looks honey golden in color, I accidentally chill-hazed it a bit, so I let it breathe a while in the tulip glass to warm up. Two fingers of foam that falls apart in less than a minute, no lacing left behind. Medium body with really nice carbonation, just a touch of stickiness to the body. Nice floral scent overlaid with mild generic fruit esters, some caramel malt appears in the nose once it gets good and warmed up to room temperature. Taste is semi-sweet, the generic esters on the nose come into focus as restrained pear tones garnished with herbal hopping notes. Overall a nice, tasty Maibock, hides the alcohol rather well, nothing really wrong with it, but not really very distinctive from similar offerings either. (maybe the high ABV counts as being distinctive?)

A: Golden clear color, half fingef bubbly head that settles to a thin bubbly layer that lingers well. Minal lacing

S: Slight hoppy floral and sweet sublte fruity scent

T: Not overly sweet as I may have thought from the scent Great balance of hoppy sweet ness and bitterness. Not much of a lingering aftertaste.

M: Good cabonation and balance.

D: Decent beer, never felt the 8% which can be good or bad! I would try it again but nothing too special going on here.
