Poured from a brown 22 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pine, citrus. Taste is dank, piney, some citrus, significant bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer that satisfied my needs for some hops.

Best by 12/20/18.
Steely golden with 1-2-finger stick off-white head with good retention and a stripe of lacing.
Aroma is pungent pine resin, leafy dankness with grapefruit
Flavor is solid with medium-high bitterness and grapefruit, pine, honeysuckle, and dank resiney note on a nondescript pale malt backbone.
Feel is on target with dry finish and light-medium body despite the ABV.
Really nice job by Abita on this West coast style IPA.

From the bottle, it pours a hazy light amber with a nice head that hangs around a bit. The nose gets lots of piney hops. The mouth gets a double barrel of piney hop bitterness. Nice!!

*Had on cask pour*
Good look, orange amber and fluffy white head.
Smell and taste are orange citrus and herbal hops, not super strong (not sure how fresh the cask is) caramel malt and an herbal, almost soapy hoppy flavor.
Body was medium, very soft and malt focused, not too bitter. Some of this probably due to the cask serving, but the flavors seemed a bit muddled and subdued.
Overall pretty good, *maybe the cask pour was not as representative as it would be elsewhere. Easy drinking, but not outstanding.

Bottle best by 8/2017:
Pours a little dark for a "pale ale," leaning a little towards the brown side of amber. The head is impressive and cloud-like. This gives the look a boost, especially since it sticks around. Blocks of lace randomly adorn the glass.
Nose is that of an earthy to a slightly cardboard-like pine-bitter beer. There's a tea-like note that may be aiding that cardboard note.
The taste follows the nose, with the tea-like note taking more hold in front. The pine is more woody initially, then becomes more needle-like and even towards resinous as the beer flows over my tongue. There's a very light spice note as the tea turns to pine, and there's a slight return of the tea in the back of the taste.
A medium to maybe even slightly lighter feel, nice carbonation.
The flavors are not those I generally like in an IPA. It's too much single dimension piney in the hops profile. The tea-like aspect doesn't help. If you are good with an earthy to tea like piney IPA, this might work better for you - at least I'd argue that on a bottle that is a month from the BB date.
