Notes/Commercial Description:
Strawberry Harvest Lager is a wheat beer made with real Louisiana strawberries, picked late in the season when they’re at their sweetest. This brew has earned quite a reputation in a short time, causing the brewery to up their production year after year. When this brew is found, emails and phone calls fly to friends informing them of the store’s location. Strawberry Harvest is a crisp, light lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

12 oz. bottle poured into a standard pint glass.

A - A bit better than the typical lager. Yellowish-orange in color, low amount of carbonation bubbles, which is what I like. Thin white head around the edges that leaves a thin white lace as you drink.

S - Hits you in the face with a whole lot of strawberry upon opening. Put your nose in the glass and you get a processed strawberry smell with a hint of toasty malts in the background. Reminds me of Frankenberry cereal, or maybe the strawberry Nestle Quik mix. Both of which I love. Very sweet smelling.

T - Strawberries with warm toasted malt and grain in the background. Very sweet, almost candy-like. Not really a beer taste at all. More like a wine cooler or a cheaper strawberry wine taste.

M - Very light and fluffy, just like a lager should. But thankfully not overcarbonated like all of the macro breweries' lagers.

D - They don't get a whole lot more drinkable than this. Well, if you like the taste of strawberries anyway. I could drink these all day. Excellent beer for a hot summer day! Or even a breezy spring, summer, or autumn day.

I'm not big on lagers generally. I'm more of a stout and porter fan. But I have to say I am really glad I picked these up. Easily one of my favorite summer beer I have had this year.

Bottle from Harvest Market
Pours a fairly clear medium straw color with a decent sized bubbly white head that slowly dissipates to a cap on top. Aromas of strawberry but a bit on the subtle side. Light spice, lemon, and just a touch of yeasty funk. The flavor follows the aroma quite well. Yeasty wheaty with a hint of lemon and funk with a solid hit of strawberry to add a bit of complexity. Light to medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Nice fruity light easy drinking summer ale, I quite enjoyed it.

It's not a great beer, but I like it anyway. The sweetness is a nice complement to spicy crawfish that is also in season when this beer comes out. I find a noticeable improvement on-tap vs. the bottle.

Not for everyone, but if you're looking for something different in the springtime, this can be a nice treat, every once and a while.

The Abita Strawberry is a really good tasting beer. It is not too strong, or too light. You can taste the strawberry flavor that it has. The smell is really good as well. The taste is not too strong or to light. If you have not had this beer you should try it, if you like strawberry flavored drinks.
