Notes/Commercial Description:
Strawberry Harvest Lager is a wheat beer made with real Louisiana strawberries, picked late in the season when they’re at their sweetest. This brew has earned quite a reputation in a short time, causing the brewery to up their production year after year. When this brew is found, emails and phone calls fly to friends informing them of the store’s location. Strawberry Harvest is a crisp, light lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

not a big fruit beer guy ever, but this one is just really good. pours a very light looking hay color with a small white head and good bubbles. no pink or redness to it really at all, maybe just a hint. smells a bit sweet, like fresh strawberries and pale malts, crisp. flavor is really lovely, tastes like real fruit, nothing artificial or syrupy sweet. very fresh flavors, nice crisp finish. nothing overboard on the malt or hop fronts, just a good balanced beer that feels seasonally appropriate. honestly i could drink quite a few of these. feel is really light in body and very active on the carbonation. down easy, affordable, and yummy. this will assuredly end up in the fridge again this season.

A-Cloudy pale straw yellow, some carbonation, two finger fluffy head that doesn't really linger.

S-Wheat, some strawberries and then there is something that is possibly metallic but smells like it shouldn't be there.

T-Strawberry flavor comes in towards the end, is not overpowering at all. Light wheat notes give a balanced sweetness.

M-Light, some carbonation not as crisp as I was expecting.

O-Avoids the overpowering fruit that most fruit beers have. Light and refreshing, not a great beer but a decent fruit beer.

Poured into a Southern Tier tulip-style glass. No readable freshness date.

A- Pours a mostly clean light gold color with a 3/4 inch head that retains a bit before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a healthy amount of surface foam. Nice amount of web-like lacing.

S- Very sweet strawberry that seems pretty genuine but still candy-like. All I can think is sugar-covered strawberries when I smell it. This is a plus in my book.

T- I was afraid that the strawberry wouldn't come through as much in the flavor but it does. Yeah, it sort of reminds me of strawberry Quik, but it's not overly creamy or sugary. The malts step forward just long enough to make you feel like you're still drinking beer. No apparent hoppiness but that's sort of expected.

M- Light and crisp with a dryness in the finish. Medium carbonation. The usual for Abita.

O- What a pleasant surprise! I bought a single of this not expecting much. I figured "they make Purple Haze taste decent, I'll give it a shot." Glad I did. I won't go running out to get a sixer of it, but it's nice to know that there's another good "chick beer" I can pull out of my pocket when need be.

If your are drinking a beer with strawberry in the name you expect fruit. They do not dissapoint. The fruit taste is NOT overwhelming though...very nicely done.
Sever up with a inch of foam with nice lacing. Left a very pleasnt taste in mouth. I had it with a nice dinner and it was an awesome complimnet to the pork I was eating. Not sure this is a beer I'd want to get hammered on, a glas or two was very nice, but I tink that taste would wear afet a few mow.

I treat this as wine, to compliment dinner or cheese.

A: Light yellow.

S: Very pleasant aroma of strawberries.

T: A taste of strawberries, but without being overpowering. I prefer fruity beers that are subtle and this beer is definitely subtle.

M: Delicate. Not much aftertaste.

O: A nice, inoffensive fruity beer that you can drink several of.

Sample: 1 bottle 2012

A: Light golden yellow, completely translucent with a small foamy head, mild internal carbonation

S: Very mild in the nose, light citrus, hints of synthetic strawberry, touches of lavender at the end, but not fragrant at all

T: Mimics the scent, not very flavorful, mild fruitiness, some traces of wheat, herbal notes

M: Smooth and light, but at only 4.5% abv it's expected, not lingering or overpowering, practically no aftertaste

O: It is what it is, incredibly mild, almost too much so, smooth, but wish it gave off more strawberry

Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow with a rose tint and a thin ivoryhead that dissipates quickly.

Aroma is grainy sweet malt with heavy scents of strawberries and a hint of wheat.

Flavor is reminiscent of sweet corn with a slightly tart strawberry finish. Wheat forms the backbone and shines as it warms.

Body is light with fairly high carbonation.

Not that I expected much, but definitely not a brew I'll have often. Fairly flat in flavor and a bit too sweet for me.

A - Very pale. Pure white head.

S/T - Smells just like it tastes, a strawberry so mild that it blends harmoniously with the grainlike flavors underneath it rather than tasting like something with strawberry syrup in it. I'd say 3.75 for both here if we could do quarter-points.

M - Just slightly soft

O - What a great job. I figured this would be a drink-once novelty but I'm adding this to my summer lineup. The strawberry level was handled expertly. It's just there enough to notice and appreciate it but not so much as to really taste like a strawberry-flavored drink. It's not particularly sweet or thick or overly strawberry-y. Well done. So refreshing and crisp and nice and drinkable.
