Notes/Commercial Description:
Strawberry Harvest Lager is a wheat beer made with real Louisiana strawberries, picked late in the season when they’re at their sweetest. This brew has earned quite a reputation in a short time, causing the brewery to up their production year after year. When this brew is found, emails and phone calls fly to friends informing them of the store’s location. Strawberry Harvest is a crisp, light lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Clear gold with a white cap of foam.

Aroma is mostly grainy pale malt and wheat with strawberry shortcake showing up as it warms some.

The strawberries flex a bit more in the taste and just barely overtake the delicate base lager. Abita advertises that they use real strawberries in this, and if that's so I applaud them. In my mind it tastes pretty authentic other than the sweetish finish that tastes a bit like strawberry syrup.

All in all a decent fruit beer. It's not typically a style I really enjoy and certainly not a type of fruit that I enjoy in beer. With all of that said, it's probably quite a compliment that I enjoyed this beer.

Finally, it's Abita Strawberry time again. I can't wait for this beer to come out every year.

When you open the bottle, you can instantly smell the fragrance of ripe strawberries. I love popping the top and savoring the smell before I start drinking the beer.

The taste is obviously strawberry, but not overpoweringly so. The fruit flavor is balanced just right with the hops and barley tastes.

The mouthfeel is crisp and clean, more so than most beers I have tried.

Drinkability is high - for those who like fruit-flavored beers, the taste is so good that the beer just goes down easy.

I always try to stock up on this one, but it never works out because I always drink these before anything else I have in the fridge.

A - Practically transparent, macro-pilsner looking brew with a small one finger head poured into a Weiss glass. Minimal carbonation.

S - The faintest hint of hops is massively overtaken by an extreme strawberry note.

T - Very strawberry. This brew tastes exactly like a strawberry smoothie as opposed to a strawberry beer. In fact, I have problems even believing this is a beer.

M - Very clean, crisp, light, and dry with practically no aftertaste whatsoever except that of strawberries.

D - If you like strawberries and don't really like beer, I doubt you could find a better brew. Even with this being said, the drink-ability is absolutely superb for nearly anyone.

bought this beer for my wife who enjoys fruit beers, but she won't touch it because she thinks it smells awful...

unimpressed with the label...picked it up because the write up on it sounded intriguing..."red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill"...who wouldn't be interested...

a hazy yellow with slight carbonation...appears to be unfiltered...

smells of strong vanilla, strawberries & cream...at first, i agreed with my wife on the smell...but once you recognize the fruit, you're good...really though, nothing to brag about...

well, this is tough to write about...surprisingly tart...very bready with a just slightly enjoyable aftertaste...the after effect of this beer is actually quite nice over time...

very crisp and slightly refreshing...not bad but certainly not great either...

Saw some singles from this year's batch, and thought I'd give one a fair try.

Poured into a Stella goblet. Fizzy head with some staying power, then receding to not much eventually. Kind of an off-gold apple color that reminds me of a gueuze.

Aroma...remember Ben & Jerry's Cool Britannia ice cream? Strawberries, cream and shortbread, it smells like that.

Crisp up front and bready, but on the back end something seems to be keeping this beer down...probably the strawberry. It doesn't seem to pop and refresh the way I wish I did. I like the taste - it does seem like real strawberry. I just think it kinda weighs the beer down a bit.

Due to the low ABV, I could put a few down, but my palate is telling me one is enough.

Appearance: Pours a hazy goldenstraw with a wispy head that fades somewhat quickly but does leave some splashy lace behind

Smell: Vague character of strawberry ice cream, with vanilla and real fruit elements

Taste: Bready, up front, with the strawberry and vanilla flavors bursting forward by mid-palate and continuing, after the swallow, with an increasingly dessert-like character

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate to high carbonation

Drinkability: If you like this sort of thing, this is a well-executed fruit beer

12 oz emptied into a Pokal.

A: Pours a cloudy straw gold with a fluffy 2-finger white head which slowly receeds to a thick ring. Good lacing throughout.

S: The gentle scent of fresh strawberries wafts up, followed by some light malts.

M: Body is light-to-medium with good carbonation.

T: Nice mixture of ripe and semi-ripe strawberries. Real flavor, nothing artificial here. Malt and hops towards the middle. Malty sweet finish with a lingering strawberry aftertaste.

D: Almost too drinkable. These go down so quickly. Not too sweet, the flavor just keeps intensifying. The taste of this beer changes from year to year, but it is always spot-on and one of my all-time favorites.

Refreshing beer with just the right amount of strawberry flavoring - not overwhelming at all! In a similar manner to Abita Purple Haze, Abita has managed to create a fruit beer with a pleasing hint of fruit flavor. I would definitely recommend this beer with Boiled Crawfish for a springtime Louisiana treat!

Beer pours a very clear cider color with a medium foamy head.

Smells like...hmmm....strawberries! Really it has more of a strawberry shortcake sort of smell, with biscuit, fruit and whipped cream all in one. The smell is the best thing about this beer.

Taste is a little like cream soda with some sour grape notes. Lightly hopped lager.

Body is light.

Not bad. A fun beer.

A lot of bubbles whirling around in a golden haze with a blanket of white foam on top, the head lasting the duration of the glass.

Pilsner-like aroma with a shot of strawberry quick/frankenberry in there.

The taste is mostly strawberry cream and some pale grain fading in and out.

Chuggable on a hot day, not much else.

Pours into a pint glass a pale yellow with good clarity. It also has a thick pure-white head.

The smell is sweet and malty with hints of strawberries (naturally).

Very clean and light tasting. The gently malty beer finishes fairly dry, with a bit of strawberry taste but practically no hops at all. All in all a fairly average basic pale lager with a little strawberry taste. Light bodied with a fair amount of carbonation. Easy drinking due to the very light taste.

12oz bottle poured into a perfect pint glass.

Pours a really light and hazy yellow with no head or lacing at all. Nose is quite odd, it's sweet and wheaty and smetying is jsut odd.

Taste... Ehh I had it when I was younger and liked it but now it's just weird. There's lots of wheat and a light hint of strawberry it's really odd. Skip it and get their regular beers.

Surprising for a fruit beer!
Has a nice straw color and a decent head.
Smells of strawberries, a lot of them but has just the background hint of the beer itself.
I am extremely happy with the taste! When I tried purple haze I expected more than the initial taste of raspberry followed by nothing. Thank god the strawberry stuck!

Anyways, a crisp refreshing beer for those who like fruit beers. Not as sweet as a Lambic but great for what it is.

At first, I was a littl e reluctant to try fruity beer. After opening the bottle, the smell was refreshing. I was expecting a very fruity taste, but no. There was a slight hint of strawberry, which was good for me. It went down smooth. I recommend this beer.

I poured into a pint glass to a couple inches of white head. The smell is dominated by sweet, sweet strawberries. I get some beer taste up front, but it is quickly overcome by the strawberry sweetness. Strawberry also lingers in the aftertaste. This is definately a dessert beer. It would probably be good mixed with a chocolate stout for dessert. It is a sweet beer all the way around. It reminds me of a Pete's strawberry blonde but with more strawberries.

Appearance-Pale Yellow corona with a golden center. Almost like a sun. A decent sized white head with lots of carbonation.

Nose- Rich candied strawberry notes. Like Strawberry creme. Certainly wafts of an after dinner dessert. I like very much

Taste- Again there's alot of cream and strawberry here. It reminds me very much of a strawberry milkshake. And as such I love this beer Ice cold. There's a soft white pepper spice on the end, barely there but pleasent.

Mouthfeel- A little thin here. Oddly enough it makes me smack my lips at the finish like there was some more body I'm not detecting. The carbonation bubbles up here...abit to much maybe.

Drinkability- This beer isn't hard to drink I wouldn't say unless your the kind that dislikes sweet beer. A good warm weather beer I wish it was released in march or april and not febuary.

ah, a beer i've been waiting to have since last year.
as soon as i pop the top, strawberry aroma fills the air.
it pours a golden transparent yellow with a white head that has a thumb's thickness and leaves lace.
the aroma is strong, although one dimensional, i love the smell. it simply smells of fresh fruit, strawberry being the culprit. i can smell it all day.
there is some simple malt taste in there, but strawberry is the first and primary taste. its very pleasant, it certainly welcomes spring nicely down here in New Orleans.
the mouthfeel is fine, a slight aftertaste that kinda reminds me of the taste i get when i'm having an adjunct lager, but its not ruining anything.
this is a very drinkable beer. i'd understand if somebody who doesn't like strawberries or a beer that is sweet if they get sick of the taste. BUT i don't. this is a sip outside in the sun beer at its finest.

Hazy golden cast with a filmy off white head. The fresh strawberry smell doesn't mask the grainy beer smell and is actually quite nice and less artificial than what I expected. Strawberries, cream and barley make up the flavor with faint herbal bittering in the finish. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Surprisingly good beer for the style, I think because it still tastes like beer.

Appears a pale yella slightly hazed like a morning fog hue, brings a bright pillowy white head with fine even lacing scattered evenly across the sides of my pint glass.

Aroma has a tart citric and grassy hop flavor with a fruity purre'd strawberry kick bringing even more lively tones to the party. A slight mineral water with some earthiness peaks through in the end.

Flavor has a crisp clean lager with an awkward "I'm still going through puberty" like stage. The strawberry jam tartness that doesn't really belong in my beer seems out of place at the party yet adds some spice that makes the party at the same time. Not overly sweet which is a good thing, just a natural strawberry twang with some slightly cooked veggies and an airy light malted lager note.

Mouthfeel is a bit high grade with the CO2, it flows pretty dry overall with a tart slightly sour finish, again though that airy mouthfeel from the carbonation level is all that's left behind on the palate, kinda kills it.

Drinkability...this is quite the novelty beer, this is a wild card amongst the world of fruit beer , not overtly sweet toothache inducing, a nice natural flow of strawberries pretty well played if your not scared of drinking with your pinkies raised. The carbonation issue was my biggest gripe with this beer until further sampling in the future years that is all for now.

This beer pours cloudy yellow color (and when I say yellow, I mean YELLOW) with lots of bubbles from the carbonation rushing towards the top.

Aroma is a nice blend of fresh strawberries and grainy malts. No detection of hops in the nose.

Just enough strawberries so that you know that they're there. They go very well with the malty flavors of this lager.

Mouthfeel is where my problem lies with this beer. There is too much carbonation for such a light beer. It overwhelms the rest of the flavors.

Easy drinking light lager. Would have given drinkability a 5 if it weren't for the aggressive carbonation.

Morey's Bottom Line: Not typically a style that I would go out and purchase, but for one reason or another, this beer intrigues me. If this brew wasn't so fizz-heavy, I'd get a sixer every year.

A pale light golden color pour with a small fizzy white head , lots of carbonation , little to no lacing left. Aroma is kind of like strawberry cheesecake , with some light grain hints . Flavor is pretty strait forward , like a light strawberry wheat beer/lager , some light grain notes , lightly sweet , not cloying or tart , not really any hop presence , a good clean mouthfeel , light body , very sessionable . This was an enjoyable try but nothing I would buy again for myself .

Pours a clear, golden color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and poor lacing. Smells of yeast, pale malt, strawberry, and grain. Fits the style of a Fruit / Vegetable. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strawberry up front, then yeast, and pale malt. Overall, a very light and refreshing brew. I could definitely drink a few of these on a muggy summer day.

A - Crystal clear golden body with lots of bubbles running through...it looks like champagne...a small white head falls and forms a light ring...no lacing

S - Strawberries are very dominating...sweet and syrupy

T - The strawberries are not as pronounced on the palate as they are in the nose...they come through more sweet and pleasant...a pale malt and wheat flavor comes through at the end...it almost tasted like a Strawberry Wheat versus a lager

M - Light bodied...crisp and carbonated...not very syrupy which was nice

D - This one could be easily drinkable with how light and fruity it is...but it's just not my style

this was a good summer beer, very refreshing. Being a strawberry beer i was glad to see thats what it tasted like, not a plain beer with some berry hints in it. flavor is good but not over powering. even my dad how doesn't really like beer liked this. If you like sweeter beers, or strawberries, you really should try this.
