Notes/Commercial Description:
Strawberry Harvest Lager is a wheat beer made with real Louisiana strawberries, picked late in the season when they’re at their sweetest. This brew has earned quite a reputation in a short time, causing the brewery to up their production year after year. When this brew is found, emails and phone calls fly to friends informing them of the store’s location. Strawberry Harvest is a crisp, light lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

A hazy straw color and a nice enough head but it dies immediately. Lots of carbonation really makes the beer look alive, but the lack of head and lace just makes me sad inside.

The dominate smell is strawberry shortcake but there is some pale malt hidden away in there. This is the first strawberry beer that I have ever had but it smells like what I would expect. Maybe a little too syrupy though.

The flavor is like a beer version of a strawberry frozen fruit bar that you would find in the ice cream section of your local grocer. The immediate flavor is strawberry. Some malt comes through in the middle and remains all the way to the crisp finish, but the strawberry makes a solid showing throughout the whole session. This is actually really delicious. I can never drink more than one fruit beer but if I had to, this would be the one.

Poured with decent head, light golden color.
Mildly spicy aroma.
Taste is malty with mild spiciness and strawberry shortcake finish.
Overall interesting beer. Strangely reminds me of something from my childhood, but can't quite place it. I would drink again, but more than one would be too much. Hard to review because I don't have much perspective on this style or any reference beers.

Poured into a pint glass.

One and a half fingers of white foam, disappearing to light fringes with some quickly disappearing lacing while drinking. Clear lager, but some cloudiness from wheat.

Smell - Mainly fruity strawberries, light malt.

Taste - Golden clean lager with a bit of wheat malt. Very little hop bitterness, which fits the style. Almost fruit loopy strawberries, stronger than it probably should be, but not kool-aid beer.

Mouthfeel - Medium body, not overly carbonated.

Overall - Goes down fairly easily, a great summer time thirst quencher.

Blonde color, not much head.

The nose is dominated by strawberries. Actually smells like a starburst a little bit.

At the first a sip of this is malty sweet then... BAM- strawbery. The bottle says just a hint of strawberries. Just a hint my ass. The strawberries are out and proud to be the main event of this beer. It literally tastes damn close to a strawberry Cream saver. A little bit more fruit then I feel was needed but most people are into that more than me.

The finish is also dominated by strawberries.

Recurring theme - strawberry and not much else.

Aroma is crisp and malty with a strong and only slightly sweet strawberry overtone. It pours a rather typical clear straw yellow with a thick, fluffy, white head that dissipates somewhat quickly. Flavor is malty and has just a bit of strawberry taste, less than what the aroma promised. It is also a bit watery. Texture is thick and smooth, barely tingly. OK, but this is not one I will actively hunt out for a second try.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass, the beer pours a slightly hazed, bright, vibrant gold coloring with a thin layer of frothy head. Smooth, creamy aromas of strawberry that are reminiscent of strawberry swirl ice cream. Beer leaves a great lacing along the glass while you drink, and the beer has initial flavors of light strawberry syrupy sweetness balanced with some toasted grain flavors. The beer is light and crisp, and it carries a super-sweet aftertaste that is a light cream and strawberry combo. The finish is smooth and lingering. The beer remains light despite the mid-range body and stronger flavors. Good refresher on a hot summer day.

A: clear gold with an ok white head diminishing to a collar of decent lace.
S: kinda like strawberry yogurt.
T: if I didn't know better id think there was a bit of lactose in this. Lightly sweet doughy malt is washed out by a light sour twang. More of the yogurty thing going on as well.
M: light, frothy.
O: this is more like strawberry shortcake than short's strawberry shortcake, and a better try at it.

A: Light golden color with a very light head and little lace.

S: A strawberry aroma that dominates the scent of wheat.

T: A fruity flavor of strawberries with a sweetness that's balanced by a wheat flavor. Abita takes pride in using the local springs in their brews, which makes the great crispness of the water also noticeable.

M: Crisp with a balanced amount of carbonation.

O: Definitely a beer to enjoy chilled as you kick back in the heat. The strawberries lend just enough flavor to not trick you into believing you're drinking an alcoholic strawberry soda.

A- Golden hue with some yeast haze. Fizzy white head has decent retention. A few webs of lace around the glass.

S- A syrupy honey coated strawberry that doesn't quite blend too well with the other aspects of a beer like malt and yeast. Like some kind of funky candy or medicine.

T- An improvement from the aroma. Sweet artificial strawberry soda overtones with a pretty nice malt and yeast bready backbone.

MF- Highly carbonated with more of a watery feel.

This is one of the very select few beers I have ever had that could be mistaken for soda in a way. Different and not really in a good way.

Picked up a bottle of this one as part of a mixed six pack a few weeks back, and split it with my wife this evening. Poured a light orange color with a big white head. Very sweet strawberry aromas, seemed to be fake. Light bodied, with lots of sweet strawberry flavors, kinda reminded me of Strawberry Quik.

A delicious fruit beer. Pours a light golden color, quick white bubbles with no lace. Smells of trix cereal and strawberry shortcake. Flavor is crisp with a sugar cookie malt and a tart hint of fruit on the finish. Overall a solid quaffer for spring/summer.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Look - light golden in color, clear, with about 2 fingers worth of just off-white foam that dissipates somewhat slowly.

Smell - fruity smelling- strawberries yes, but also a berry aroma in general. Other than that nothing, maybe maltiness.

Taste and Mouthfeel - strong strawberry taste at the very beginning, which fades in the middle and in the finish. A little more malty than hoppy, and pretty smooth. Texture is pretty well balanced, but a little frothy feeling.

Overall - not bad, a little different than the fruit beers that I've had before. Definitely worth a try.

Picked this bottle up as part of a mixed six pack today at Total Wines.

A:The beer pours a slightly cloudy golden yellow. Small head, quarter inch slowly rose, then fizzled fast to just a ring of bubbles.

S: The strawberries overpower, it's hard to get much else. Slight bit of wheat, and corn syrup as well.

T: Sugar, strawberries, syrup, and some mild corn.

M: Sightly crisp, a little sticky. Lightly carbonated, and a bit thin on the finish.

O: okay. One and done for me. Hard to get past the cloying sweetness, for a lager it's not that refreshing.

A: Just lightly golden toasted straw color with a slight haze and lots of bubbles. There is a smallish white head that settles pretty quickly but leaves some decent splotchy lace.

S: Very ripe strawberries. Not fresh smelling, but cooked or maybe freeze dried. Really light grainy malts. Odd vanilla-like note. Diacetyl maybe? No hops. Pungent and not bad really, but it is a little weird.

T: Strawberry is still at the fore on the palate, but softer and rounder. Lightly malty and toasty grain base gets a little husky as initial sweetness thins. Towards the end some light sulfur and lager esters notes come out along with some grassy and herbal hops. Soft, fruity tartness lingers in the finish with some hop bitterness. Slight diacetyl becomes apparent as it warms.

M: Medium-light with firm and active carbonation. Brisk and crisp. Minerally and dry finish. Lightly tart.

D: Not too many strawberry beers out there, so this is an interesting brew just for that. Decent overall, but the nose is a bit of a weak point. The strawberry is strong, but also sort of odd. It contributes to a fruity pepples / crunch berries impression.

A: Comes out a mild and slightly hazy amber with a very good amount of carbonation.

S: Smells of strawberry. Yes! I'm glad this actually smells of fruit. It has a very sweet and appealing scent to it. Has a familiar lager smell.

T: It's very mellow and wheaty. It tastes of strawberries but it's very light and airy.

M: It's very light and gentle.

O: Overall this is a really good beer. It tastes of fruit without being syrupy and is very clean. I would buy it again if I was looking for a strawberry beer.

Reviewed cold from a bottle to a glass

A – Poured a half finger of foam, decent lacing ring, cloudy yellowish color. Carbonation is present

S – Hints of strawberry and wheat. Slight hop nose with pale malt lingering

T/M – Lighter bodied brew, crisp wheat taste. Slight strawberry sweetness. Can’t really taste any malt or hops.

D – Easy drinker, good for sipping on a summer day. Clean and crisp taste. Slight sweetness added but nothing over powering. Good brew to try but wouldn’t seek this one out again

Bottle. Pours into a tulip glass a clear light straw color with a 1 finger white head. Very sweet strawberry aroma in the nose, almost too sweet and makes me think they used artificial flavors. Strawberry Pez aroma. Medium/light mouthfeel. Sweet strawberry upfront transitions to a watered down berry flavor with a slight bitterness. Minimal lace.

Poured from the bottle into a glass

A- clear light orange color with lots of bubbles. A thick looking tan head. A little head retention and nice lacing.

S- The nose is made up primarily of a breadiness and really sweet strawberries.

T- the breadiness returns in the beginning, then is just overwhelmed by strawberry. Not a natural strawberry taste, it actually reminds me of a strawberries and cream candy I ate as a kid.

MF- the head makes it somewhat creamy, but when it dissipates the mf is thin and boring.

Overall, this is a fine summer beer, but I don't want to drink one every day.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Westmalle chalice. No freshness date.

Appearance: Pours a very pale golden yellow color. The beer is very transparent, and the lively bubbles are clearly seen rising to the surface. The pure white head rises to a half fingers worth, then fades to a single blob in the center of the glass.

Smell: Pale wheat aroma, followed by some nice, tart, under ripened strawberries, a little on the sour side. The strawberry has a very sweet, almost candy smell to it. A lot of citrus, maybe a touch of orange zest.

Taste: Right off the bat...nothing really, maybe a tiny bit of wheat and grassy flavors. The strawberry comes next, the same processed, candy taste as the aroma would indicate. The beer finishes clean, with no aftertaste whatsoever.

Mouthfeel: Thin body with a medium carbonation. The beer has the consistency of water, and the carbonation is very prickly on the tongue.

Overall: This is a highly drinkable beer. I really could drink this like water. The very subtle flavor(s) is there, and then it is gone, leaving no aftertaste. It is very refreshing and quenching.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy pale straw color with a finger of white, dence head that retains and laces nicely for the style. Lacing is pretty good as well. The smell is strawberries. Strawberries punching you in the face. A little fake smelling, but otherwise good. The taste is great, sweet ripe strawberries over a subtle wheat base. It's not complex, but sure as hell tastes good.

The mouthfeel is light and crisp, perfect with the flavors. The drinkability on this is very good, this is very delicious and goes down very easily. Overall, a very enjoyable fruit beer that shattered my (quite low) expectations. Highly recommended.

Beer looks great. It has that nice straw color lager, with a nice staying head that seems to be lacing. The beer displays some great visible carbonation as well.

It smells like Captain Crunch or some berry cereal. Berry Berry Kix maybe... I guess that makes sense though with the cereal grains and berry flavor. That pretty much dominates it and I can't get anything else except for Saturday morning cereal.

This is an over the top sweet beer. It tastes exactly like it smells. The only thing I have with it though is that the strawberry flavor and the lager flavor aren't meshing very well. It's almost like there are two flavors battling each other in this beer. It's a cool idea though.

Mouthfeel is crisp and snappy. Overall this is a neat beer. It's definitely an original and I think it's cool that it's being made.

Into a tulip glass on 3.25.11. this pours a very clear and bright yellow golden color with a light film head a-top--has the appearance of a pilsner. Smell is a moderate and pleasant strawberry cotton candy noted one with a light trace of hops. Mouthfeel is a light and smooth but crisp wash over the palate that ends in a somewhat dry earthy strawberry finish. I don't think I've ever had strawberry fruit beer before and I have to say that I'm glad to have tried this...Thanks, Abita!

A - Very light amber color with almost cider like color and carbonation appearance

S - Earthy and a small amount of fruit perhaps but it might just be there because I want it to be. I was hoping for more here

T - Light and fresh. This beer would be best on a hot summer Louisiana day. Very refreshing with some fruit background but very subtle. I like fruit beers so I was looking for a bit more fruit but that is just me

M - Once again very cidery in mouthfeel, light and carbonated.

O - Like I said above this beer shines best as a post summer yard work day. The hotter it is outside the better this beer would be.

Tried this for the first time in NOLA when on an incredible vacation. The food was incredible, the French Quarter was memorable, Bourbon Street was crazy, the Dominican cigars were fresh and enjoyable...the beer brings back all of those memories. The strawberry flavor is subtle and well blended in a very smooth tasting, very summer, and very exciting beer to look forward to.
