Notes/Commercial Description:
Strawberry Harvest Lager is a wheat beer made with real Louisiana strawberries, picked late in the season when they’re at their sweetest. This brew has earned quite a reputation in a short time, causing the brewery to up their production year after year. When this brew is found, emails and phone calls fly to friends informing them of the store’s location. Strawberry Harvest is a crisp, light lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

This poured out with a light pinkish color to it and a foamy white head on top. The head fades and just leaves a thin film over top of the beer. The smell of the beer has a pretty healthly aroma of Strawberry to it. The taste of the beer is very light, The strawberry is sweet and just watered down it seems. The mouthfeel is also quite watery. Overall this beer wasn't overly impressive, just not for me.

I picked this up the other day at Cost Plus World Market.

Appearance- yellow color, nice foamy head

Smell- mostly grains, little bit of strawberry

Taste- strawberry flavor, pretty good

Mouthfeel- light to medium bodied

Drinkability- I thought it was pretty good. I liked the strawberry flavor of it.

I heard a couple of good things about this so decided to try when I saw it available. Pours like a Pilsner, clear, yellow body, lots of activity. Smells of strawberry and yeast mixture. The taste is of unsweetened macerated strawberries. It's very prickly, ad soda-esque. I think Abita should go a little sweeter with this one.

A- thin white head slightly hazy golden color.

S- slight hint of strawberry and a little bit of funky smell to it.

T- pretty tasty dry beer. Goes down smooth, thin, with taste of strawberry maybe a hint of banana.

M- thin beer with a moderate amount of carbonation. Goes well with the fruity flavor

O- its a good beer but not one you would have all the time. A nice change of pace once in a while in the summer time from the ipa's

A: Very clear, golden yellow, small amount of white head with lacing that disappears quickly.

S: It has an appealing smell of berry, banana and malts. The largest amount of smell coming through is banana.

T: This tastes initially of berry followed by banana and a small amount of floral hops. It's a refreshing beer and has a unique taste to it. The long finish isn't my favorite, kind of has a linger that I don't like too much but the taste as a whole is good!

M: Has a light, smooth mouthfeel and is hihgly carbonated.

O: Overall, I feel this is a good beer, not great, good. It is refreshing on a hot summer's day and tastes different than many beers.

12oz Bottle

Appearance – Slightly hazy golden yellow colour with an average size fizzy white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is a fair amount of lacing. The head lasted for around 3 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Grains, bread, light hops, strawberry

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an average amount of carbonation. I can taste breads/grains mixed with light hops and some lemon juice. And of course there is quite a bit of a sweet strawberry syrup taste. It finishes with a grainy strawberry aftertaste.

Overall – The beer itself is very light, but the strawberry flavour gets tiresome after a while. I wouldn't be able to drink too many of these in one sitting. Glad I gave it a try, but I wouldn't buy this one again.

Appearance: Straw yellow color with 1 finger of fluffy head that faded slowly with chunky lacing.

Aroma: Strawberry jam with faint malt notes in the background.

Taste: Strawberry, all the way. Just a touch of grainy maltyness after the first blast of strawberry, but then finishes slightly lingering with a taste of strawberry syrup.

The Rest: Good if you like strawberries. There must be some malt in there because it does have a decent body, but there is not hop profile at all, as typical of most fruit beers. Fairly refreshing, I would have to say its one of the better fruit beers I've had.

A: The pour is a hazy golden color with a small white head and a lot of fizz.

S: At least the strawberry aroma is not disgustingly fake. Definitely somewhat artificial and sugary, but it does have a nice fruit quality to it. Underneath that, a bit of corn bread.

T: Surprisingly good flavor, too. Best way to describe this is cornbread with strawberry jam on it. Nicely sweet, but I could see it getting cloying after drinking more than a few ounces of it.

M: Light to medium in body with a medium to high carbonation.

O: I was expecting a disaster. Luckily, this wasn't too shabby.

Based on the Abita 2010 version. Seasonal made with real Louisiana strawberries! I look forward to this release each and every year.

A: Hazy and straw-colored.

S: Fresh strawberries but not much else.

T: Shortcake sweet but not fake and overpowering. This beer is incredibly refreshing on a hot Louisiana day. The strawberry emerging at the end a little malt at the start.

M: Carbonation and thin, which is nice since the beer tastes so light.

O: Louisiana seasonal staple! Delicious.

I haven't poured this into a glass, so no comment about the appearance.

When I smelled the beer I was apprehensive because there is a prevalent scent of something like shortbread and whipped cream in addition to strawberries. Kind of unappetizingly sweet and baked good-like in my opinion. However, the beer tastes great. The strawberries come across very fresh and tart, with no overbearing sweetness and no fake fruit flavor. This tastes like fresh, unsugared berries with very light lager. The mouthfeel is light with not very much carbonation and the lager doesn't coat the tongue at all.

I almost never buy lagers because of how light and often tasteless they can be, but in this case the flavors work and the effect is pleasant and refreshing, almost like a very dry cider.

A hazy straw color and a nice enough head but it dies immediately. Lots of carbonation really makes the beer look alive, but the lack of head and lace just makes me sad inside.

The dominate smell is strawberry shortcake but there is some pale malt hidden away in there. This is the first strawberry beer that I have ever had but it smells like what I would expect. Maybe a little too syrupy though.

The flavor is like a beer version of a strawberry frozen fruit bar that you would find in the ice cream section of your local grocer. The immediate flavor is strawberry. Some malt comes through in the middle and remains all the way to the crisp finish, but the strawberry makes a solid showing throughout the whole session. This is actually really delicious. I can never drink more than one fruit beer but if I had to, this would be the one.

Poured with decent head, light golden color.
Mildly spicy aroma.
Taste is malty with mild spiciness and strawberry shortcake finish.
Overall interesting beer. Strangely reminds me of something from my childhood, but can't quite place it. I would drink again, but more than one would be too much. Hard to review because I don't have much perspective on this style or any reference beers.

Poured into a pint glass.

One and a half fingers of white foam, disappearing to light fringes with some quickly disappearing lacing while drinking. Clear lager, but some cloudiness from wheat.

Smell - Mainly fruity strawberries, light malt.

Taste - Golden clean lager with a bit of wheat malt. Very little hop bitterness, which fits the style. Almost fruit loopy strawberries, stronger than it probably should be, but not kool-aid beer.

Mouthfeel - Medium body, not overly carbonated.

Overall - Goes down fairly easily, a great summer time thirst quencher.

Blonde color, not much head.

The nose is dominated by strawberries. Actually smells like a starburst a little bit.

At the first a sip of this is malty sweet then... BAM- strawbery. The bottle says just a hint of strawberries. Just a hint my ass. The strawberries are out and proud to be the main event of this beer. It literally tastes damn close to a strawberry Cream saver. A little bit more fruit then I feel was needed but most people are into that more than me.

The finish is also dominated by strawberries.

Recurring theme - strawberry and not much else.

Aroma is crisp and malty with a strong and only slightly sweet strawberry overtone. It pours a rather typical clear straw yellow with a thick, fluffy, white head that dissipates somewhat quickly. Flavor is malty and has just a bit of strawberry taste, less than what the aroma promised. It is also a bit watery. Texture is thick and smooth, barely tingly. OK, but this is not one I will actively hunt out for a second try.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass, the beer pours a slightly hazed, bright, vibrant gold coloring with a thin layer of frothy head. Smooth, creamy aromas of strawberry that are reminiscent of strawberry swirl ice cream. Beer leaves a great lacing along the glass while you drink, and the beer has initial flavors of light strawberry syrupy sweetness balanced with some toasted grain flavors. The beer is light and crisp, and it carries a super-sweet aftertaste that is a light cream and strawberry combo. The finish is smooth and lingering. The beer remains light despite the mid-range body and stronger flavors. Good refresher on a hot summer day.

A: clear gold with an ok white head diminishing to a collar of decent lace.
S: kinda like strawberry yogurt.
T: if I didn't know better id think there was a bit of lactose in this. Lightly sweet doughy malt is washed out by a light sour twang. More of the yogurty thing going on as well.
M: light, frothy.
O: this is more like strawberry shortcake than short's strawberry shortcake, and a better try at it.

A: Light golden color with a very light head and little lace.

S: A strawberry aroma that dominates the scent of wheat.

T: A fruity flavor of strawberries with a sweetness that's balanced by a wheat flavor. Abita takes pride in using the local springs in their brews, which makes the great crispness of the water also noticeable.

M: Crisp with a balanced amount of carbonation.

O: Definitely a beer to enjoy chilled as you kick back in the heat. The strawberries lend just enough flavor to not trick you into believing you're drinking an alcoholic strawberry soda.

A- Golden hue with some yeast haze. Fizzy white head has decent retention. A few webs of lace around the glass.

S- A syrupy honey coated strawberry that doesn't quite blend too well with the other aspects of a beer like malt and yeast. Like some kind of funky candy or medicine.

T- An improvement from the aroma. Sweet artificial strawberry soda overtones with a pretty nice malt and yeast bready backbone.

MF- Highly carbonated with more of a watery feel.

This is one of the very select few beers I have ever had that could be mistaken for soda in a way. Different and not really in a good way.

Picked up a bottle of this one as part of a mixed six pack a few weeks back, and split it with my wife this evening. Poured a light orange color with a big white head. Very sweet strawberry aromas, seemed to be fake. Light bodied, with lots of sweet strawberry flavors, kinda reminded me of Strawberry Quik.
