16oz serving in a LIbby Belgian ale glass. On tap at Meadowlark Restaurant in Kettering, OH.
Appearance: Bright clear amber. Plenty of bubbles rising up through the glass. Thin white foam ring with some strands of lacing noted.
Smell: Metallic mostly, with a bit of leafiness noted on the swirl that generated foam. Unusual.
Taste: Malty with some noble hop bitterness at the front and back. Maltiness picks up more sweetness as the beer warms up. Crisp and clean finish.
Mouthfeel: Good carbonation, a little bit sticky on the teeth, but otherwise a bit dry at the finish.
Overall / Drinkability: Tasty enough, but nothing special. Good enough for washing down a meal though (Salmon melt sandwich) but lacking in aroma.
Serving type: on-tap

This Bock is on the lighter side of the style, a dark orange leaning brownish-red in the darkest depths. The tan-tinted head isn't small but it doesn't last very long. It is able to throw down some thin patching in decent quantity, though.
The nose is a little odd, with a dark malts foundation but little strength and giving little but earth, wood and some sort of metallic mineral note.
It's earthy with a notes of woods, kind of stemmy in the bitterness, with a bit of a nutty character underneath. A bit of breadiness shows up in the malt profile, too, and the hops add a very gentle black pepper bite.
Bock shouldn't be huge, but this seems a little thin in body. Still, the malts lay down pretty good support, and there's a good balance between crisp and smooth, dry and sweet.
