Appearance - Pours orange amber with an off-white, 2 finger head. Average retention.
Smell - Caramel, moderate pecan nuttiness, and a brown sugar sweetness.
Taste - Lighter in flavor than in the nose, but what's there begins with a malty sweetness and an underlying tone of pecan nuttiness. A faint bit of earthy bitterness pops in mid-taste and lingers. Ends with a more moderate pecan nut finish, then dies out quickly.
Mouthfeel - Light in body with a fair amount of carbonation. Smooth and easy to drink.
Overall - I was hoping for a more assertive brew, but with Abita I should have known better. The flavor that's there isn't half bad, but it feels like half a flavor. Won't buy again; there are plenty of better browns with more to offer.
