I had a bottle of the Pecan Harvest Ale, poured into a regular pint glass. I assume it was fresh, and from this year.
A: A very nice, appetizing orange-brown body. Poured a nice strong brownish head, and carbonation continued to bubble up. Some lacing.
S: A bit of a nut smell when opening the bottle and pouring, nothing overpowering and a bit disappointing. After the initial burst, just had a malty/brown ale smell--which wasn't bad, but could have been stronger.
T: A very smooth taste, very malty: malt forward and that maltiness lingers. Had notes of maple and caramel and nuts (not surprising there), and an overall roasted feel. Couldn't tell that the nut was pecan, though, rather than just some roasted nut.
M: Despite the rich color and roasted, nutty flavor, very light on the tongue. Not full bodied. Felt lightly carbonated, which I prefer, and very drinkable, like real ale on draught.
O: Could have been nuttier and more complex, but this was overall very tasty and drinkable, and I think it would pair well with a bunch of foods and baked goods that I like: smoked meats, maple foods, pancakes/breakfast foods, shoofly pie. Not a bad breakfast beer.
