This was the beer special of the day at Finnegan's Irish Pub in Plainfield, IL so I tried one for just $3.00 a bottle.
The beer poured a nice pecan shade of brown and made a 1½ finger off-white head that lasted quite awhile. It also left some nice lacing on the glass.
The smell was all malt and pecan. Neither one was overpowering, but it was a nice sweet smelling beer.
The taste was caramely sweet with some pecan in the background, but there just wasn't enough of it. It was weak on flavor. At just 20 IBU's there isn'tmuch of a hop presence either. Instead they use a high degree of carbonation to cut into the sweetness, which I did not care for.
It's an OK medium bodied beer that is easy to drink, but I had hopes of an even better taste from my first pecan ale.
