Undated single 12 oz stout bottle.
Pours a peachy red brown, redder than it is brown. Head is uniform, large bubbles but looks pretty nice, hovering at 1/4 inch thick with good staying power and nice curtains of lace on the side of the glass as I gradually perform the disappearing beer trick.
Specialty beers are my favorites and my number one pet peeve is when brewers don't go all the way. Abita did the job, judging by the smell -- I'm definitely getting a whiff of toasted pecans. Could be some roasted malts in the background, can't tell yet. Tiny minty hop presence.
Taste is, uh, nutty. There is a burnt edge, I'm guessing from the malts and not the pecans. Slight bittering from the hops on a clean finish. Too clean, in fact... the finish is almost like seltzer. This beer is much drier than I expected with a good deal of astringency. Could use more malt, more interesting and refined pecans and malts, and more taste in general, but what I found was pleasant. See my pet peeve above? Abita, go all out, and stop pulling your punches.
Not a thick-bodied brew by any means but it's carried by some strong carbonation [not "good" just strong]....
... which makes the beer a little less drinkable than it could be. Tone down the bubbbles, ramp up the flavor and add a touch of sweetness and we'd be in business.

A-Semi clear deep orange, some carbonation, two finger head with some lacing.
S-Lots of wheat, grass, dirt and pecans not balanced at all.
T-Not balanced at all. Starts with lots of wheat then pecans and dirt. THe base brown all isn't even noticable.
M-Medium to lighter in body, slight carbonation.
O-A bad beer. I wonder why I keep buying Abita.
