A: Copper with a tan/white head, good retention and lace.
S: This does not smell like an IPA. There is a very subdued pine and citrus hop aroma smothered by malt caramel smell.
T: Caramel taste with restrained earthy hop flavor. This does not taste like an IPA, I gave some to my buddy and he said "They call this an IPA?" I would maybe call this a hoppy amber or an EPA or ESB.
M: Fine carbonation, pleasantly rolls around the mouth.
D: Drinkability is fine, nothing special, you could certainly stick to this all night.
I would not call this an IPA, at least certainly not what IPA has become to Americans. Perhaps this could be considered what English people called IPA back in the day when it was invented, but this does not stack up to what IPAs have become. Not that this beer is good in its own right, but if you are looking for an IPA, dont reach for this one. Like I said, more of an ESB/Amber.

The appearance of this IPA is actually quite stunning in a highly carbonated, cheap sort of way. The head was a tower of ivory foam with a dense cap. The body was a glowing, brassy color of copper but it was obscured by a torrent of tiny bubbles that clung to the glass.
The nose presents a strong malt base with caramel, tea leaves and barley. The hop scent is old world floral with hints of lemon, pine and grapefruit.
The flavor matches the scent nearly identically. Strong malt base, maybe tea leaf, with a floral, pine, tinges of lemon and a pithy grapefruit.
The feel is dry but it has almost no carbonated bite, despite the appearance.
Very simple IPA with stronger Pale Ale qualities than hop profile.
