Notes/Commercial Description:
Jockamo I.P.A. is a traditional India Pale Ale made with the best pale and light crystal malts that give the beer a copper color and malty flavor. This full-flavored beer is hopped and dry hopped liberally with Willamette and Columbus hops from the Pacific Northwest and has a 6.5% A.B.V. The spicy aroma of the hops contrasts nicely with the pleasant sweetness of the malts. Jockamo has a flavor that entices and excites the palate.

Jockamo IPA pours a clear amber with a medium sized creamy head on top. As the foam dissolves netted lace clings to the glass.

The aroma is malty with notes of caramel and biscuit. Some pine and orange citrus are also present.

Each sip of this medium bodied beer is smooth and creamy with light carbonation. The flavor is malty and sweet. It begins with caramel and biscuit notes plus some hints of fruit (peach?). Towards the end some lemon and orange citrus move in. It finishes mildly bitter and dry with lingering caramel malt.

There aren't many hoppy flavors found in this IPA. It's more like a pale ale or possibly an English bitter to me. Good mouth feel and easy to drink.

Good to see Abita finally come around and brew a bottled IPA,poured into a standard pint glass a clear copper with one finger white head that had decent lasting power, big cascade citric/pine hop aroma hits at the onset with a lightly sweet caramel malt base as well. The flavors have kind of an English/American feel,Englixh biscuity malt intertwined with American hop pine resin hop,the malt has a sweet edge to it and holds true through to the finsish, the hops hit hard up front and kinda linger to the finish.A pretty good IPA and like I said its nice to see Abita take this route.

Appearance - This poured a gorgeous orangish-brown in color with a firm off-white head and looks more like a double.

Smell - The dry-hopping gives this ale a nice, resiny nose but it falls short of the killer PacNW claim on the website. The Columbus isn't huge but is very clean. The malt though forms a nice backbone. It's lightly toasted and just the right level of sweetness to balance out the bouquet.

Taste - This gets serious at the taste. The malts lose some of their sweetness and the toasty aspect really comes out. The hops surprisingly hold their own and show a bit more spicing. All this come together making the flavor profile raw and a bit rough, which I like.

Mouthfeel - This is short of medium-bodied which is no surprise as our southern states like to keep their beers "wet". The feeling in between the cheeks is smooth but the flavors don't blend particularly well together. The carbs are right on though.

Drinkability - This is a big beer for that neck of the woods and they didn't make this one with kid's gloves. There's just enough drying though to keep one gulping.

In a pint glass the beer was an amber color with a quickly dissipating white head. It had a little bit of lace.
Mostly floral hops aroma, a little bit of citrus. Sweet malt background. Not a very striking aroma.
Taste was similar to the aroma. Piney, resinous hops with just a tiny bit of orange. Faint biscuit. Again, not very striking.
A very meek beer. It was OK, but there are a lot of better IPAs out there.

12 ouncer, twist off, w/o freshness info. Pours darker amber, kinda cloudy, under a medium tan head and leaves some splotchy lacing. Grainy hop nose, this one seems like an upgrade for Abita. Full bodied, medium but still respectable hop presence. Hops seem mostly grainy and softly citric/grapefruit like. Certainly not in the class of the finer (S.D. area) hoppy brews, but this is a clear upgrade from the other M.O.R. Abita offerings I have tried. Better then respectable hoppy sessioner. Worth a try.

Appearance: copper, medium head, clear, with medium carbonation

Smell: grapefruit, melon, and some lemon, none of which are overpowering

Taste: I taste soap and some other hops--not much else

Mouthfeel: smooth, watery, slightly bitter aftertaste

Drinkability: It tastes like a light IPA, not bad-not great just OK...I will most likely not have this again, but would not turn it away if offered to me

The beer pours a slightly hazy amber color with an off-white head. The aroma is a mix of bready malt with some pine notes mixed in. The beer also has an iced tea aroma. The flavor is a mix of pine and orange citrus hops with some toffee notes. Low bitterness. Thin, slightly watery mouthfeel and low to medium carbonation.

I snuck 1 more $1 buck beer pint at huck Finns. This time will try the Abita ipa

A-a hazy dirty orange with a skimming of white head

S-hops are here but not in your face-citrus and definitely grassy. Plenty of malt here too-sweet,breast,toasty

T-the hops here are distinctively marmalade. Some caramel malt flavor to boot

M-low on the carbonation heavy on the malty mouthfeel. I'm digging it

O-a malt forward IPA. I like the balance

12oz bottle poured into a chalice.

Pours a very nice mahogany red sadly with no head at all. Nose is real sweet and malty with a nice subtle hop bite.

Damn is this thing bitter! A real palate killer, very sharp and dry the hop bit lingers for a while. The malt is there but this is more of a west coast ipa so don't plan on drinking more than one or two!
