Restoration Pale Ale is made with Pale, Lager, Crystal and Cara Pils malted barley. It is liberally hopped and dry hopped with American Cascade and fermented with California Ale yeast. The end result is a brilliant gold ale with a rich body, mild bitterness and a snappy fresh citrus hop flavor and aroma.

This used to be one of my standbys, a great session beer to be enjoyed in great quantities in the summer. I had one after a long day of work in the winter and still enjoy it for how crisp and refreshing it is, but it falls short compared to other more intricate beer. The smell is rather pedestrian, but you can smell a touch of hops. A hair of citrus that comes thru in the taste, as the beer warms up there are no new notes or more clarity. This is a step up from a traditional American Lager. Not much more than that. I do still have mad love for Abita and truly appreciate this beer helping to rebuild a city that deserves it.

12 oz short bottle, with best by date stamped on neck, hard to see.

appears a clear golden color, with some amber highlights. bone-white head. hops dominated aroma, earthy, a bit of citrus. hops rule the taste as well, but not overpowering. subtle pale malt. drier finish, not much aftertaste. medium body, medium carbonation. works well - its easy to drink, but not too thin.

overall, a decent beer for a good cause.

Poured from a bottle into a schooner. No best before date on the bottle.

A - clear golden beer with a hint of a head with thin streaky lacing. Some visible carbonation in the glass.

S - grassy hops, hint of citrus

T - nice hint of resinous hops on the tongue initially but it's very short-lived and finishes very dry with practically no malt. It's gone very quickly.

M - very light, but also with mild carbonation. Exceptionally dry finish.

O - Initial promise was there, but it just didn't follow through. Very light and dry; not much to it unfortunately.

Pours a golden-amber with a < 1 finger weak white head. Aroma very weak (I'm almost getting nothing here) only a hint of a musty straw-like malt scent. Taste is light and slightly flavorful - I'm getting a hint of burnt barnyard hay and light caramel. This ale is lightly hopped leaving a slightly bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is terrific, carbonation is well balanced, and the light body is smooth not leaving an oily afterfeel. Drinkibility is good, ABV low (5.1%) so alcohol is not overwhelming. Overall, this pale ale lacks rich and eclectic flavors. But its light alcohol content, smooth light body, and slightly bitter aftertaste is appealing. This makes a fine mid-afternoon brew.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours golden amber, on the lighter side, with foam that settles out completely. Virtually no nose, just a subtle hint of a hop. Light mild hop bitter taste, with a smooth sweetness at the finish. Quick finish, bitterness fades out. One of the mildest APAs I've had.

Quick drinker - maybe they erred on the lighter side to boost sales for the cause, which I can respect. But better brews can be had from Abita.
