Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

Real Louisiana Satsumas, golden wheat, oats and the finest barley create Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit. Pale and cloudy, like the haze on a hot summer day, this white beer has a sweet and subtle citrus flavor with a touch of spice that is cool and refreshing.

Poured from 12oz bottle.

A- Pours a hazed golden yellow color. this stuff almost looks like a gel. One finger white head shows medium retention overall. Light ringing lacing on the glass as I drink down.

S- The only two things I can pick out in this beer are a yeasty aroma in the front of this that is pretty dominate. There is a grainy like presence in the background. Almost smells like a very yeasty BMC product.

T- There is a light sourness to this from the get go. This dies to a light watery yeasty taste. Some light grainy notes really make this beer a subpar standing in taste as far as I'm concerned. There is a light artifical fruit flavor but I can't figure out what it is.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation is fizzy and a little much for the beer. Light sourness and yeasty flavor left on the palate. Some alcohol and grainy flavor left in the aftertaste. Alcohol has light drying on the palate. Flavor is balanced for the style.

D- This beer to me is not a good offering for any brewery in this style. If this were a BMC product I would have no problem with it but as a craft brewery offering I must say this is terrible.

A-Hazy yellow orange, not much carbonation or head.

S-Wheat, lemon, orange, some grass. A more citrusy witbier.

T-Starts off with wheat, spice, orange and lemon but the finish has this off flavor that throws off the balance.

M-Medium bodied, some carbonation.

O-I can't place the off flavor in the finish but it threw everything off.

I bought this one because I had no idea what a satsuma was. The apperance is a nice fuzzy orange color that is hazy. The smell is vague hops with a strange bitter smell that was off to me. Sweet taste but then melllows to quick to a earthy bitter that doesn't mix well. Aftertaste is decent but nothing amazing. Just not impressed but I want to try a satsuma to see how Mich flavor was in it

A- A crisp white head tops a cloudy orange cream colored beer. There is quite a bit of sediment still left in the bottle with was then transferred into the glass. This gives it the appearance of a lighter colored fresh squeezed orange juice with a few bits of seed floating in it.

S- citrus and light clove up front. It also has that classic funk aroma that I find in alot of witbiers.

T- on the tip of the tongue is the burst of citrus while the mellow bitters work their magic along the sides of it. The funk of the orange peel/pith is defined in the long finish of this beer.

M- Well carbonated and crisp.

O- This is an ok beer, but nothing worth bragging about.
