Had this on-tap at the Abita Brew-Pub in Abita Springs, LA. Beer poured an attractive yellow color with nice white head that lasted a little while. Aroma is citrusy, with wheat and coriander coming through. Flavor is almost dominated by the citrus taste. Mouthfeel is good. This is a refreshing beer.

I had this at the Abita Brew Pub. The appearance is cloudy, light amber with a very thin white head. Minimal lacing.

The smell is very citrusy, with hints of yeast, wheat, and malts. The taste is strong of satsumas, coriander, and yeast. Somewhat sweet. Mouthfeel is very carbonated; acidic.

This is a drinkable beer, but a little too carbonated. It is in the Witbier style, but due to the strong satsuma taste, it could be classified as a fruit beer.

On tap at the Abita Brew Pub. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Very little lacing. Smells strongly of citrus, though mostly lemon with little satsuma, from what I can tell. The usual clove and coriander are also there, along with some yeastiness. Smells fake. Taste is again fully citrus and spice. The satsumas don't really add much distinctiveness to it. Highly carbonated. Another mediocre beer from Abita.

Edit---It's no better bottled.

A-Hazy yellow orange, not much carbonation or head.

S-Wheat, lemon, orange, some grass. A more citrusy witbier.

T-Starts off with wheat, spice, orange and lemon but the finish has this off flavor that throws off the balance.

M-Medium bodied, some carbonation.

O-I can't place the off flavor in the finish but it threw everything off.

I bought this one because I had no idea what a satsuma was. The apperance is a nice fuzzy orange color that is hazy. The smell is vague hops with a strange bitter smell that was off to me. Sweet taste but then melllows to quick to a earthy bitter that doesn't mix well. Aftertaste is decent but nothing amazing. Just not impressed but I want to try a satsuma to see how Mich flavor was in it

A- A crisp white head tops a cloudy orange cream colored beer. There is quite a bit of sediment still left in the bottle with was then transferred into the glass. This gives it the appearance of a lighter colored fresh squeezed orange juice with a few bits of seed floating in it.

S- citrus and light clove up front. It also has that classic funk aroma that I find in alot of witbiers.

T- on the tip of the tongue is the burst of citrus while the mellow bitters work their magic along the sides of it. The funk of the orange peel/pith is defined in the long finish of this beer.

M- Well carbonated and crisp.

O- This is an ok beer, but nothing worth bragging about.

Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit has a very thick, frothy, white head, a semi-clear, golden appearance, with streaming bubbles, lots of suspended tan particles, a descending yellow-gray cloud, and a fair amount of lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of coriander and white wheat bread, and the taste is of those two elements, plus sugar, satsuma, a touch of bitterness, and a slight orange peel note. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit finishes semi-dry, easy going, and drinkable. Overall, this is very good.

I poured a bottle into a weizen glass.

Appearance- Cloudy straw color with a fingers worth of quickly disappearing head. Very little lacing.

Smell- Wheat malt, coriander, and citrus.

Taste- Yeasty, lightly sweet wheat malt flavor with a hint of citrus. Funky aftertaste.

Mouthfeel- Light bodied with an average amount of carbonation.

Overall- I was not impressed with this beer. The aftertaste was a little off putting. Not a good representation of the style and not one of Abitas better offerings.

Apperance: Light and cloudy. Fairly small head leaves pretty good lacing.

Smell: Wheat, coriander, and spices.

Taste: Wheat, orange, coriander, spices, and then some hops. Finishes somewhat dry. Flavors are timid and nothing shines here.

Mouthfeel: Fairly thin. Leaves a rather unpleasant aftertaste.

Overall: Not bad, but nothing too interesting. Probably would taste alright on a very warm summer day, but this overall is forgettable.

Cloudy straw color with white head that fades quickly. Aroma is light orange peel, coriander with soft pilsner malt. Taste is the same - orange peel is light as is the coriander. The malt is almost not existent. Maybe slight sweetness from the malt. Overall everything in this beer needs to be amped up just a bit.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on August 12, 2013.

It has a cloudy pale yellow pour with a quick white head that does not as terribly long. It has an unfiltered look.

The aroma smells like a wit should with Belgian pale malts, Belgian yeast, and a little bit of lemon zing. Yup = Hoegarrden. Mellow hops.

The body is light and refreshing.

The taste has the same sort of roasted malt character I would expect from a wit but it is not quite as strong as it is on the nose. Vague spice and citrus. A bit sweeter than many wits. But it was not that bad and I could drink a few of these in 80 degree weather.

Poured from 12oz bottle into Chimay goblet.

A - Hazy, pale, golden yellow with white lacey head.

S - Yeasty funk with a slight hint of peachiness. Definite sour notes.

T - Nothing distinct here. Vaguely sweet wheat with no sign of the fruit expected. Rather bland overall. Wheaty funk lingers on the palate.

M - A bit of body, light carbonation.

A summer porch beer to be certain, but lacking. Meh...

Appearance: Golden and cloudy, a very satisfying appearance for a beer made with oranges. A thick head of white foam was present but dissipated quickly.

Smell: Yeast and a slightly metallic tone initially, with a backdrop of sweet orange. Orange becomes more apparent and the metallic note disappears as the beer warms.

Taste: Sweet orange, witbier yeast notes, wheat. I was expecting more satsuma flavor here.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and light bodied, medium-high carbonation. Refreshing.

Overall: This is not the beer I was expecting, but was still fairly good. The satsuma orange didn't dominate the flavor profile like I would have liked, what is present makes the beer pleasantly refreshing.

Bottle from Bert's picked up on a whim.
Pours a light straw with a tinge of orange to it and a smallish although long lasting creamy white head. The aroma is light citrus orange and grapefruit come to mind with a spicy wheat berry thig going on and a huge yeasty presence. The flavor is light and bready with lots of wheat that is countered by the spice and citrus flavors. The finish is rather dry with a lingering spice rack. Light body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick almost watery mouthfeel. This one was ok, but a bit thin and uninteresting.

Poured into a snifter. Bottleneck says Best By 11/14/13

A- Pours a hazy dark golden color with a 1/2 inch white head that retains well before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and zigzags of surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a thick ring behind on the glass.

S- Very yeasty wheat aroma with notes of orange and lemongrass.

T- Strong burst of yeasty wheat up front that gives way to a moderate sweetness and a slightly weak aftertaste. Very smooth, drinkable and flavorful. Zesty.

M- Plenty of snap with medium carbonation and a light body.

O- A very solid wheat beer that's fruity but not overly so.

Picked this up on a whim with their Strawberry Harvest too. Poured a nice color and right away noticed not much smell, just not much of anything It's an ok lighter beer but nothing stands out too much as a Witbier, no spice of any kind. Probably would buy again.

A: The beer is hazy light pale yellow in color and has a moderate to high amount of visible carbonation along with some fine particles visible floating in suspension. It poured with a finger high white head that eventually died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface, a collar around the edge, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of wheat and oranges are present in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has flavors of both wheat and satsumas, which seem to resemble mandarin oranges with hints of lemons. No spices such as coriander are detectable.
M: It feels light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and would make for a good selection on a hot summer day. I really enjoyed how it used Louisiana satsumas in place of the typical Curaçao orange peels that are typical of witbiers.

A very pleasant beer.

Gold, wonderfully hazy liquid with a big white head.

Smells of grain and spices.

Crisp and dry, fair amount of spices, slight citrus background. Also maybe a tinge of apricot.

Carbonation is nice and crisp.

Overall, I enjoy this beer a lot. Many fruit beers are too sweet. This one is just right.

12 Ounce stubby poured into a US Pint glass.

A: Straw yellow, sandstorm of sediment, and perhaps fruit peel? Bright, white head, little lacing.

S: Citrus peel, light malt, a little skunky hop factor that is displeasing.

T: Light malt, a hint of adjunct grain. Citrus fruits and peach are prevalent. A touch of spice, but not much. Clean.

M: Light with a nearly fizzy carbonation. Crisp.

O/D: A rather boring, run of the mill Wit, not one of the better representations, in my opinion.

Poured from a bottle into pint glass. A rich golden, hazy pour with a generous 2-3 finger white head. Clouded and murky. Smell is very orange forward with a small bit of bread and cloves. Taste was very smooth and a great blend of fruit, orange, spice and hops. Nothing was overpowering which was a nice surprise. Balanced and refreshing. I like my Wits/Hefes to have a good balance, and this was spot on. The heavier orange taste also made it quite unique. Feel was adequate carbonation with a medium body and lively action on the tongue. Some dry aspects on the end. Overall- A very solid Wit with orange/satsuma forward taste, a balance of bread and spice and nice mild hop finish. This was tough to sit down and very sessionable. Was not expecting this from Abita, but this one is a sleeper and one I will be getting more of very soon. A must try-

Serving bottle poured in to a tulip glass.

A - Pours hazy golden with a one finger white head which starts to fade to strong lacing after a few minutes.

S - Very nice! Citrusy with lemon, orange and a bit of pine pushing through.

T - Orange with lemon with a bit of grass backing. Tangy and slightly bitter on the aftertaste.

M - Super light and fluffy. Carbonation is a little higher during sips than it needs to be but it is not problematic.

O - A good choice for a refreshing drink! Nothing in it was off putting to me and, in general, I don't much like orange. This would be a fantastic summer time brew.

This beer poured a half a finger heard with a very light yellow body. I assumed that it would be darker than this. On the nose, I got a lot of orange and lemon and some other citrus smells (which now I assume is this “satsuma” flavor). The spice on this is much milder than other witbiers I’ve had. The brew is mildly carbonated. It tastes almost like Leine’s Summer Shandy, but isn’t as abrasive. The citrus flavors come through on the taste as well with some mild coriander. Other people have mentioned that they got banana from this, but I couldn’t find any. This is a nice and subtle, not overly sweet summer brew. This is another beer that goes down easily. I would definitely buy this again.

12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy straw yellow with a thick 1.5 finger head. Plenty of carbonation keeps the head firmly in place.

Coriander and orange peel are huge in the aroma. A tiny amount of lemon and bubblegum sneak in there as well.

The flavor is definitely spicy, more so than with a typical wit. Kind of a sharp citrus twang from the oranges that balances nicely with the increased spicyness. A little sour lemon and bubblegum in the distant background leading to a slightly sticky finish.

Overall, there is no doubt that this is a very refreshing beer but the overall flavor just doesn't really do it for me. I don't care too much for the citrus twang and the aftertaste is a little off-putting. Probably won't pick up again.

Pours a murky light orange with a 1 inch foamy off-white head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, yeast, spice, and some mild citrus aromas. Taste is of malt, grain, yeast, spice, banana, and some slight citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild spice bitterness that quickly fades from the palate after each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is pretty tasty and easy to drink but I am not getting any strong citrus aromas or flavors.
