Notes/Commercial Description:
Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with Willamette hops and a combination of pale, crystal and chocolate malts. This combination gives Turbodog its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate toffee-like flavor. Turbodog began as a specialty ale but has gained a huge loyal following and has become one of our flagship brews.

Best By 06/03/13. Took a break from the Sam Adams Spring Thaw pack to give this one a first-time.

Pours a translucent brown with some red hues poking through. Great-looking finger's worth of fluffy beige head capping this brew. Looks like draft root beer.

Very mild nose. Light chocolate and brown ale notes. Hints of something caramelly, or maybe toffee. Chocolate is definitely here, though. Smells malty. Lightly soapy, too.

Some milk chocolate, English toffee, herbal hops, malty session ale sweetness, moderate bitterness, medicinal notes, root vegetable quality, and obligatory nuttiness. A bit of cola in the middle. Finishes with malty roast and some Willamette. There's enough going on here! Pleasantly surprised by this Southern English Brown.

Very quaffable. Chunky body full of dextrins. Clunky carbonation is delightfully clumsy. Splashes in the mouth. There's even a thin booze note.

I wouldn't call it complex, but this beer has a lot to offer. Great sessionable English-style ale. Chocolate and toffee make an intriguing combo; not exactly used to it. An enjoyably easy twelve-ouncer to slam back between other beers.

This is the best beer I have ever had. I heard great things about Turbodog, and went to my local market, which has a "Build your own 6-pack" thing for 9.99. I got a Turbodog, Purple Haze, couple Shock Tops, and a Cherry Chocolate beer. I refridgerated my Turbodog and angle/straight poured it into a 20 oz. mug. The head is incredible! Super retention, very foamy, bit of lacing. The smell was great, hints of chocolate malt, no cloying, bit of sweetness. It pours a very dark brown. I drank the first gulp...heaven. No over the top alcohol taste, despite it having a higher ABV than most beers. I felt no biting carbonation and the sweetness was not overpowering. I recommend Turbodog to everyone. A+!
