Beer for a good cause.
A - pours a flaky, golden haze with a white, foamy head that dissolves after a minute or so. Haze may be due to freezing, not sure. No, on second pour it's actually a bit hazy.
S - It's funny how you can sometimes tell the difference from a great beer and a good beer just on the smell alone. This one doesn't give off much of any scent except maybe faint caramel and Total brand Cereal.
T - Malty, subtle - I'm not crazy about it but it did have to follow one killer Deschutes Red Chair NWPA. Mildly spicy to begin with, follows through with big malts; does seem to carry a bit much on the hops for a pilsner. Yep, it's right there just before the finish.
M - Not quite an experience, but good enough to try once. Nothing about it stands out as unique or worthwhile, but again, glad for at least trying it.
D - I can't believe this beer is actually listed as having 7% ABV. Alcohol is hidden quite well.
$.75 of your dough will benefit the Gulf Coast relief efforts, according to Abita's pretty cool label work. That may be enough reason to pick one up.
