Notes/Commercial Description:
Purple Haze is a crisp, American style wheat beer with raspberry puree added after filtration. Therefore, you may see raspberry pulp in the beer. The raspberries provide the lager with a subtle purple coloration and haze, a fruity aroma, and a tartly sweet taste.

Pours golden with a white head. The beer is slightly cloudy due to the raspberry pulp. The smell of raspberry comes through in the aroma as well as the wheat. The raspberry flavor is not too sweet. There are flavors of wheat. The hops aren't very pronounced. This is a light bodied beer that is crisp and well carbonated. It's a refreshingly good beer.

A: Not purple & not even really hazy – just a ghost hint. Peachy golden with just a hint of amber hue. Nearly clear & quite bright. A few large bubble rise to the small white head that settles fast and does not really leave any lacing.

S: Hint of raspberry / berry on a rather blah wheat beer base. Yup, smell is that of a “meah” fruit wheat beer, but that is about it.

T: Bready wheat, crackery malts, low C sweetness, and a hint of toasty grain. Raspberry is less than expected – watery jam & a hint of acid / tasrtness. Background, faint herbal hops. Abrupt finish. Simple & minimal.

M: Light to medium-light for body. Carbonation is over-balanced due to being so light. Crisp & brisk – it is more biting than refreshing. Hint of tartness, but maybe it is just carbonic bite showing through the thin almost watery feel. Okay enough for a quencher type brew.

D: Easy to drink, but then there is not much there. Everything is rather minimal & insipid. Sort of a yawn. I remember it being better on tap down south – more fruity raspberry and more wheat character. Maybe it needs to be fresh? Are they changing it for stability in the mixed packs?

A: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had an amber color and a hazy texture. There was a small amount of foamy head that quickly disappears. Average lacing.

S: A very faint aroma of raspberries and not much else.

T: Tasted of raspberries up front and a big, obnoxious shot of malt in the finish. This is really a one-dimensional flavor that's very thin, watery and pretty uninteresting.

M: A well-carbonated beer with a dry, smooth finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Purple Haze just simply doesn't cut it in the flavor department. It's not all that focused.

Served in a pint glass, brew pours a pale golden color with a light mist of semi-filtered "haze". Nose is bright and crisp with the promise of a refreshing fruit taste. Raspberry fruit flavor shines through nicely in a zesty sweet and tart feel. Carbonation really quenches the palate up to a lightly sticky earthy raspberry finish. Something I'd love to try pairing with a goat cheese salad and/or grilled gulf shrimp.

A: Hazy light brown. I wasn't really seeing any purple but....
S: Smelled light with a hint of wheat there.
T: Bubbly, light, smooth, oaty, wheaty. I didn't taste the raspberry but it didn't hurt this beer. It was a little on the light side but had a good flavor still.
M: Sat very nicely. Bubbly and playful and left a lingering wheat flavor. Was a little on the watery side.

Overall this is a pretty good beer. It could go for a little more hops or so as it tasted a little watery but the wheat really stood out in this beer.
