Appearance - Pours a deep mahogany brown with an off-white, 2 finger head. Good retention. Nice lacing with good stick.
Smell - Aroma consists of predominantly earthy character, moderate pine, slight herb and peppery spice, faint caramel.
Taste - Earthy, woody character upfront. Subtle walnut undertones. Peppery. Hops are floral with touches of pine. Finishes quick
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with ample carbonation, which bites at the tongue. Goes down smooth, with a slightly watery finish.
Overall - One of the better beers I've had from Abita. Nice, interesting flavor. Doesn't quite hit the level I'd prefer, but it still delivers.
