Notes/Commercial Description:
Golden is a crisp, clean continental lager. Just four ingredients are all it takes: American malt, Mt. Hood hops, German lager yeast and pure Abita Springs water. As the name implies, Abita Golden has a brilliant gold color. Its flavor makes this light lager the perfect match for Louisiana Creole food.

Continuing to work through sampler. A pale straw beer with very little head, crystal clear and somewhat limpid. Almost no aroma, apart from slightly grainy malt. Very clean and quite light flavor: a touch of sweetness, a very slight hoppy bitterness in the background, and a faint, slightly peach-like fruitiness. All the flavors are subdued. Creamy texture.

No obvious faults, but this is one very boring beer.

Appearance: Very Light straw color with a white head.
Aroma: Clean malty aroma.
Flavor: Clean malty taste, with a non hoppy, slightly sweet toasty finish. Light bodied, slightly sharp carbonation.
Overall: A nice clean tasting beer. Light enough to drink all summer long. This is not your watered down TV light; has a decent flavor.

A: Pours a pale straw color with a small head that fades quickly to no real lacing.

S: Aroma of citrus, some malt sweetness and grain.

T: Taste is quite bland with a bit of malt sweetness and grain. Light bitterness and a a clean finish.

F: Light body with no real flavor.

O: A non-offensive beer that reminds me of a dull Euro Lager.

Poured into a pint glass out of a growler.

Pours a clear light gold with just a half finger white head. There is some wispy head on top but very little in the way of lacing or head retention for that matter.

Aroma is slightly sweet with lots of grain and hints of caramel and toast. A little bit of lemon and roasted malt and a yeasty note that is very typical of Abita.

Some sweetness up front in the flavor, more than i was expecting, along with quite a bit of grain. More bready malt along with lemon and toasted malt. Some grassy hops but they are buried far in the background along with a light bitterness. Moderately sticky mouthfeel with a little bit of lingering chalkyness.

Overall, I do like this beer but feel the sweetness could be toned down just a bit. Drinkability is somewhat limited by this but I could still put back a few of these.

Serving type: growler
