A: Pours a semi-translucent light gold with two full fingers of pure white head. The foam takes a little while to settle, leaving a rocky layer across the top of the beer. Nice lacing as it drinks.
S: The nose is pretty one dimensional. Sweet malt dominates, and I get just a touch of lemony citrus and some fresh cut grass.
T: It starts out sweet with malt and caramel, but there is something off about the initial hit that tastes like old vegetation. A bit of spice shows up in the middle, but the beer never really develops. The finish is more malt with a small amount of hops bitters in the back end. I don't get much flavor out of the hops, just bitters.
M: Light bodied beer. It's sweet and coating to start. It envelops the palate and remains malty all the way into the finish. Mix of sweet and bitters to finish off the beer. Not very pleasant.
O: Not a fan of this beer. They label this an IPA, so I expect some solid hops flavor components. I get none. Just bitters in the back end. I will not buy this ever again.

Too flowery and perfumy for me. All the same this is a resonant IPA with lots of bright flavors.
A: Good amount of lace over an apricot body. Light carbonation and head.
S: Ample! Bright, brassy hops with flowers, citrus, grass, herb garden... very west coast, almost over done.
T: Follows the smell, but really bright, floral, hoppy. Rind, pineapple, tropical fruits, blossoms dominate the white cracker malt underneath. Slightly sweet, sun tea like, but nicely off set with pepper.
MF: A bit thin but adequate. Good finish.
O: A good light weight beer to meditate on and tease apart the flavors. Almost a dessert beer.
Original and a must try. One of Abita's best.
