An interesting concept for a beer,I guess a bigger version of the strawberry lager?Poured into a standard pint glass a fuller golden color with a thinner white head atop.Aromas of strawberries and cream, like a strwberry cream saver, kind of artificial but not to bad.Flavors are quite sweet with that same strawberry cream saver element to it,some alcohol thrown in and it got to be almost cloying near the bottom of the pint glass.Again not a bad concept and the beer isn't horrible but I likely wouldn't order again anytime.

Abita Strawgator (22-oz. bottle) has a thick, frothy, off-white head, a semi-clear, somewhat hazy yellow-gold appearance, some ascending bubbles, and prominent lacing rings left on the glass. The aroma is of strawberry juice, with a background of grain. Taste is also is upfront strawberry juice and a background grain, with a touch of hop bitterness picked up. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and Abita Strawgator finishes semi-wet, easy going, and only alcohohilic in the head, not really the flavor.

On-tap 9/29/2013 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI, served in a tulip glass.

A: The beer is a deep gold color, with a short white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains strawberries lager yeast, honey, light caramelized malts and a faint touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of strawberries and honey. Then some mild breadiness comes in from lager yeast and a thin malt character. The hops presence is very mild and there isn’t much balance. The after-taste is tart.

M: Crisp and but not very smooth, light-to-medium body, medium-to-high carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.

O: Not very tasty, doesn’t go down very easily, not too filling, good kick, not the best representation of style, I see what they were going for here but it’s just not a very good beer.

Smell and taste are of strawberries and some malt, with a touch of hops to give it minimal bitterness. It's sweet, but for as dominant as the strawberry flavor is, it's not too terribly sweet. Mouthfeel is somehow thin and creamy at the same time, and it goes down very, very easy with the high ABV masked expertly and dangerously. The strawberry flavor tastes fresh but may be a bit too much. Overall, it's a good beer for a summer day, but again, be careful with this one. It's tasty although not complex enough and too sweet to satisfy most beer advocates.

I got this at the Abita Brewery the first day of the release. They are kind enough to give you a clear plastic cup for samples so please bear with me. This is a meld of Strawberry and Andygator. Only now it's an official beer unlike a Barney (Andygator and Purple Haze)

A: It is your standard golden lager around the edges with a inner core of a deeper red. Decent head that quickly fades to a ring around the cup with some minimal bubbles at the top

S: The usual Strawberry Harvest Lager with just a hint of Andygator. A strong dominant strawberry purée with a touch of the Andygator German grains and some light hops.

T: It is a Strawberry with a fuller base. Instead of the standard Golden, the Andygator supports this beer so much better. Andygator comes through much more in the taste.
Again, the Strawberry is dominant with a more supportive biscuity malts and grassy hops.

M: Once again, there's a fuller body than strawberry, much more along the lines of Andygator. This is what Strawberry should be. Medium bodied with decent carbonation and very smooth.

O: If I haven't said it enough, this is what strawberry should be. Light and refreshing with strawberry but with a decent supporting base. It's certainly worth the try so you can agree with me.

This beer is all time. It tastes like an alcoholic strawberry purée . So good and it has a kick to boot! Get this beer - it's singular and delicious.

On draft at Whole Foods in Alexandria, VA.

The beer is golden with a small head. The aroma brings sweet strawberry desserts, candies, strawberries and cream. Present alcohol in both the aroma and flavor. Too sweet to enjoy more than a small sample. Light to medium in body with some heat in the finish. Lingering artificial strawberry candies. Not my thing.

Poured into a pint glass

A: Hazy golden with flecks of cherry. A half finger off-white head that leaves a frothy top for about a minute. Lots of lacing.

S: Picking up a strawberry patch with a field of malt in the background. Can it be...cream soda?

T: A frothy, full-bodied cream soda experience, replete with more strawberries than Abita's regular fare. The Andygator integration revs up the taste with more malts and body. Sweet, smooth, agile, with lots of texture. This is not what I expected, in a good way.

M: Medium with frothy carbonation.

O: A great summer drink and one the ladies love. I'm now a fan of this strawberry puree. A hybrid gone right.
