On tap at the Avery tap room.
A nice cap of slightly off-white foam sits above a slightly hazy, deep copper body.
Smells strongly of pine and really dank hops. Maybe a bit of tart lemon zest as well.
The flavor is full of molasses, caramel, and lots more of those dank hops.
Between medium and full bodied, I'd say.
It's kind of a hybrid ale with great traits of both hop-forward and malt-forward beers.
Serving type: on-tap

A: dark brown with a bit of auburn hue as it gets low. Nice head and good lacing.
S: alcohol, honey, toast/toasted malt, maybe a little cinnamon
T/M: more like a standard brown taste than the smell, but that's a relative thing. Lite woody, slightly copper bitterness behind a pumpernickel kind of bread taste. The alcohol makes it's presence early and lasts, but adds to rather than detracts from the taste. Good body, taste coats mouth a tad, carbonation sustains, but doesn't make a big presence
O: I recently made what I thought was a nice brown ale. I was not really a fan of the style, but this beer makes me think it's possible to make a nice brown ale.
