Poured from a bomber into a snifter.
A- Brownish red, with the red really coming out in direct light. Yellow-tan head. Retention is okay, but lacing and legs are very nice.
S- Resin in the forefront, and big. Caramel backbone lurks in the back, though. Sting of hop and booze come up in the nose as well. Is there such thing as nosefeel?
T- Malt comes up more in the taste, with more of a citrus peel hop flavor. Pretty big hop for a barleywine, but apparently this was brewed before the era of the term: double IPA.
M- A pretty creamy body, with a bitter bite of a finish.
O- Great beer. I was looking for a barleywine, at least one with more of a balance, but I couldn't consider this a double IPA. Tasty.
