Appearance: Very dark brown and basically opaque. Half finger tan head with big soapy bubbles.
Aroma: Basic American Stout assets. Cream, roasted chocolate/coffee.
Taste: A semisweet roasted chocolate presence engulfs the palate in the first half and then transitions into more of a bittersweet chocolate taste. Some hop bitterness takes over near the end. You are left with a black coffee flavor in the finish. Says on the packaging that they use a "mountain of hops" in the recipe. I guess I'd agree that it is hoppier than most other American Stouts but not enough to really be noticeable. As it warms up a little, profiles of dark fruits and currants come through just a bit. It's almost like a light version of an Imperial Russian Stout. You don't taste any of the 6.3% abv.
Mouthfeel: Possibly a tad over carbonated but within the range it should be in. Medium bodied and average drinkability.
Final Thoughts: I liked this one. At just under $10 for a six-pack it's a fair deal. It's robust beyond it's 6.3% abv. Expect a big roasty profile and some decent bitterness. Would I drink it again? Yes, especially in the colder months.

A - Amber-dark appearance with a thick cream head. A bit on the light side for a stout.
S - Healthy, coffee scents with a bit of metallic edge.
T - Relatively empty taste for a full stout. Relatively bitter compared to what is to be expected of a quality stout.
M - Good, hearty taste but a bit on the bitter side (~45-50 IBUs) for a stout.
O - A notable stout. Definitely recommendable. Not, however, what could be had with similar brews.
