12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a very dark ruby color. The head is about one finger high, with a mocha shade. Retention is just acceptable, but there's nice lacing left behind.
S: Smells like a milk stout. That is, it's heavy in both lactose and chocolate notes, with some undertones of vanilla and coffee. There isn't as much roasted backing as I'd like. All in all, this smells like it will be rock-solid.
T: Okay, I didn't notice all these hops on the nose. While it opens with a touch of lactose sweetness, the finish is surprisingly hoppy. Not bitter, just clean and dry-feeling with a hint of pine flavor. It's really simple, but pretty good otherwise.
M: It starts off clean and dry like I said, with a sweet linger in the middle of the palate accumulating slightly. As such, it's not quite as drinkable as it could be. Both body and carbonation are about medium, maybe slightly erring to medium-high.
O: Nice one here. I'd love to try it a bit fresher so the hops will be more defined. Right now, however, it's solid but unexceptional. I'm on the fence about buying this one again.

A - Amber-dark appearance with a thick cream head. A bit on the light side for a stout.
S - Healthy, coffee scents with a bit of metallic edge.
T - Relatively empty taste for a full stout. Relatively bitter compared to what is to be expected of a quality stout.
M - Good, hearty taste but a bit on the bitter side (~45-50 IBUs) for a stout.
O - A notable stout. Definitely recommendable. Not, however, what could be had with similar brews.
