Pours a brilliantly clear amber color with copper highlights and a dense one inch beige head that lingers, eventually dissipating and leaving thick lacing.
Aroma begins boozy, with vanilla and caramel malt leading to herbal hop notes. Toffee, melanoidins, and toasted nuts surface late. Cola characteristics add intrigue.
Flavor is borderline cloyingly sweet, with undertones of dark fruits adding complexity. Caramel malt is accompanied by bruised plums, figs, and dates. Booze carries throughout, with vanilla preceding a lightly citrusy, slightly bitter hop finish. Toasted malt gives relief as the brew warms.
Body is somewhat syrupy, with moderate to low carbonation. Alcohol warmth is significant.
Overall, a very boozy brew. Could use some time to mellow.
Serving type: growler
