Presentation: 22oz brown bottle. Bottled in 2005, 8.9% ABV.
Appearance: Beautifully clear deep amber color. A large tight foamy head rests on top. Great retention and a lot of lacing:
Smell: Clean and big malt backbone. Caramel candy sweetness, with some moderate hop aroma and a strong spicy alcohol aroma.
Taste: Thick and sweet malty body and finishes sweet. Not much hop flavor or bitterness left in this, probably from the huge malt presence. Even though it is thick, it thins out, probably due to the high alcohol. I can't really taste the strength, but I can feel it.
Notes: Light carbonation. It does have some hints of an Oktoberfest. Clean fermentation characteristics, sweet, and malty, but the hop bitterness is lacking along with the dry finish. It has gotten some age on it, so its mellowed out. Its nothing that special.
