Poured a dark caramel amber color with 1-to-2 fingers of off-white head that dissipated pretty quickly. Very good layered lacing all the way down on the sides. Average retention on the top.
Smelled apple, kiwi, cloves, Juicy Fruit, dark sour fruit, banana, dark cherries, caramel, toffee and Belgian spices. Sharp whiff of alcohol at very end.
Tasted like a stronger version of the smell, that kind of dies out at the end. Got apple, cloves, kiwi, watered down Juicy Fruit, dark cherries and Belgian spices, all with a strong alcohol background. Not 10 percent background (which it is), but close. A bit sweet and sugary.
Light-to-medium body. Thin-to-oily texture. Soft carbonation. Long, smooth, warming finish. Alcohol seems a bit lower than the 10 percent. Best part of the beer.
I’m still rather new to Quad’s, but this one seemed to be a bit below average. It did get better as it went down.
