Poured into a sniffer from a bomber. Look is crystal clear nut brown color, no haze. Has to have been filtered… NOT bottle conditioned. 1 ½ in. head not a lot of foam but some. Reduces to 1/4in with good lace. Not what I would expect a good quad to look like.
Smell is of sweet malt, sugar, floral hops and some spicy herbal note… a coriander like smell. Tiny hint of alcohol towards the end. No yeast noted.
Taste is started by sweet malt but ends quickly with a sharp zing of sugar and molasses flavor. Dark fruit is present in the middle with a floral hop finish, which is all topped off with a gentle warm alcohol.
Mouth-feel is thicker than I imagined and works well with this beer.
Overall good beer… just not a great match for the style in my opinion. Maybe I just drink to many trappists beers…. But I would still recommend giving this beer a try.
