Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass.
A - Pours a hazy ripe plum color (reddish/amber with a hint of purple), with two-finger, off-white head. Spots of lacing. Head did dissipate after a while.
S - Strong aroma of Belgian yeasts, caramel, sweet breads, dark fruits and a hint of banana/clove.
T - Nicely blended flavors of black cherries, holiday fruit cake, and caramel-soaked bread. Clove and pepper spice present in the mid-palate. A touch of grapefruit from the hops present in the finish works wonders to prevent cloying. Complex. ABV barely detectable. Fruitier and not quite as decadent as some Quads I have sampled, but I found the difference to be rather refreshing.
M - Thinner side of medium bodied, with spritzy carbonation. Finishes quite clean. IMO, this could have used a little more body; but a minor flaw.
O - As a different take on the classic Belgian Quad, I enjoyed this quite a bit and would recommend it for those looking for something original, as this is not the toffee/date/prune bomb one might expect. All around pretty darn good though.
