Served in a snifter.
Body is a deep bronze and burnt orange. An immense heads rests atop and doesn't leave quickly.
Smells of caramel malt and alcohol. This reminds me much more of a barleywine, being devoid of any complex notes.
Flavor is malty and alcoholic. Although tasty, this isn't too representative of a quad.
Mouthfeel is thick without being chewy. An oily, syrupy body carries the malts without lingering unpleasantly.
Even though this seems to deviate from the traditional quad, it's tasty and enjoyable.

22oz bomber shared with friends. My serving was in an Innis and Gunn stemmed glass (not quite a tulip, but not a straight walled goblet either). No date on the bottle.
Appearance Clear/bright dark amber. Thin ring of white foam. Some small islands of lacing.
Smell: Toffee, dark fruits, and a hint of phenol. A very deep and rich aroma.
Taste: Toffee, Candi sugar, caramel, cherry, phenol, with a mild bitter finish that complements the other flavors. Very rich.
Mouthfeel: Smooth but sticky on the teeth. Light carbonation.
Overall / Drinkability: The Reverend has given me his sermon and I'm a converted believer. This is a very good beer. Deep flavor and aroma profiles, good looking, and even the mouthfeel works with everything else going on. I'd hesitate to put it in any more of a religious connotation, but I effective went to a service, listened to the sermon, took communion, and left uplifted. This is one damn good beer. The alcohol does make itself a little bit known, but not enough that I found it hot. I had such a good experience I know it's dangerous enough for me to reach for another one and be in real trouble and in for a proper preaching against sin after the 2nd bottle. Great beer and I'll be picking this up again.
